Base Class: Barbarian
The Masochist must balance the pleasure of pain with its ever dwindling pool of health (HP). But such is life that the higher the risk the greater the reward. The masochist enjoys being in the middle of battle and wants to take all the damage. With the harty HP of a barbarian the masochist will start as a tank drawing in the aggression of its enemies but when its health dwindles it becomes a glass cannon. The masochist relies on its allies to keep it from death, for if it adventures alone it would succumb to the addiction of pain and die in short order.
The Pleasure of Pain
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can make your enemies know your pain. While you’re raging add 1 masochist dice for every 17 HP you are currently missing to any of your melee damage rolls. (the damage will be of the same type as the attack itself, i.e. piercing=piercing, bludgeoning=bludgeoning …)
(damage from “the pleasure of pain” is in addition to the rage damage modifier, the damage stacks and does not replaces other damage modifiers)
Masochist Dice - Masochist Dice will increase your damage output based on how much pain you are in and will increase as the masochist learns to draw out more power from its pain, as the masochist levels up. At 3rd level a masochist dice is 1D4. (1 per 17 HP missing)
Self Mutilation
Starting at 3rd level, your enemies may see the crazy in your eyes. If the masochist injures itself and an enemy within 60ft has a line of sight that creature must make a wisdom saving throw against the masochist intimidation. Upon a successful save the creature is unaffected, but if the creature fails it is frightened (condition frightened) of the masochist until it succeeds the saving throw. The create may make a saving throw attempt at the beginning of each of its turns.
Mutilation save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + charisma modifier
Bonus Proficiency - When you choose this path you gain proficiency in intimidation if you do not already have it.
Reverse Flanking
At 3rd level, you revel in the chaos of combat. While more than 1 enemy is within 5 ft of you, or when you are being flanked, you get advantage on all attack rolls.
At Death's door
Starting at 6th level, the rush of ecstasy you feel as you approach death erupts from your attacks with a new veracity. If an attack hits while raging at 1 HP you may add 1D12 to you damage roll. (the damage will be of the same type as the attack itself, i.e. piercing=piercing, bludgeoning=bludgeoning …)
(damage from “At Death’s Door” is in addition to the rage damage modifier and in addition to “the pleasure of pain” the damage stacks and does not replaces other damage modifiers)
Rapture of Torment
As you become numb to the pain, more extreme measures must be taken to achieve greater rewards. While you’re raging add 1 masochist dice for every 25 HP you are currently missing to any of your melee damage rolls. (the damage will be of the same type as the attack itself, i.e. piercing=piercing, bludgeoning=bludgeoning …)
damage from “Rapture of Torment” is in addition to the rage damage modifier, the damage stacks and does not replaces other damage modifiers)
damage from “Rapture of Torment” replaces damage from "the pleasure of pain" (not in addition to)
At 10th level, your masochist dice turn into D6s. (1 per 25 HP missing)
Additional Torment
As you become more resilient you need even greater pain to achieve the pleasure you seek. While you’re raging add 1 masochist dice for every 47 HP you are currently missing to any of your melee damage rolls. (the damage will be of the same type as the attack itself, i.e. piercing=piercing, bludgeoning=bludgeoning …)
damage from “Additional Torment ” is in addition to the rage damage modifier, the damage stacks and does not replaces other damage modifiers)
damage from “Additional Torment ” replaces damage from "Rapture of Torment" (not in addition to)
At 14th level, your masochist dice turn into D10s (1 per 47 HP missing) and your Death’s Door damage becomes 2d12.
