Base Class: Rogue
Not all who walk in shadows live in fear of the light. The Redeemer brings a candle to the darkness, dispelling its hold on those who despair. To the Redeemer, salvation lies not in gods or myths, but in their own hands.
This subclass was created as part of the Subclasseptember 2022 challenge!
Shelter of Mortal Hands
At 3rd level, you bring your underhanded skills to bear for the purpose of protection. Immediately after you deal your Sneak Attack damage to a creature on your turn, you gain temporary hit points equal to half the Sneak Attack damage dealt (rounded up).
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
While you have these temporary hit points, you can use your reaction to shelter a creature that takes damage. When you do so, you can reduce the damage taken, up to a maximum of your temporary hit points. You lose temporary hit points equal to the damage reduced.
Karmic Restitution
At 9th level, when enemies strike down your allies, you can return the favor with a blow of your own. If you lose all your temporary hit points when you shelter a creature, you can teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the target and make a weapon attack as part of the same reaction.
Guardian
At 13th level, you learn to better protect creatures from area effects, such as a red dragon’s fiery breath or a fireball spell. When you succeed on a saving throw to take only half damage from an effect, you can choose any number of creatures within 60 feet that also made a saving throw against the same effect. They instead take no damage if they succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if they fail.
Fortunate Son
Whether by fate or some sort of karma, fortune seems to smile on you. At 17th level, when a friendly creature within 60 feet is reduced to 0 hit points, you can immediately evoke healing energy that restores restore a number of hit points equal to five times your rogue level. Choose any creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit points among them. This feature can restore a creature to no more than half of its hit point maximum.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
