Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Your love for cards has granted you special abilities that only come with years of practice and training. You can turn paper to steel with a flick of your wrist.

Trick Sleeves

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn to flick your wrist, causing one object in your hand to disappear or reappear. The object must fit in your hand and weigh no more than 5 pounds. The object is transported to an extradimensional space, where it remains until you choose to make it reappear again or 10 minutes passes. Also, you gain proficiency in Sleight of Hand and Playing card sets or expertise if you're already proficient.

Deck of Blades

Starting at 3rd level when you choose this archetype, A deck of playing cards becomes deadly in your hands. You can transform a card into a light, finesse, thrown (range 30/90) weapon. You are proficient with this weapon and it deals 1d4 slashing damage. The card you throw counts as a magical weapon for the purposes of overcoming resistances and immunities.

To use your Deck of Blades you will need a 54 card deck with 13 cards of 4 suits and 2 jokers. When you roll initiative draw a number of cards from the top of your deck equal to your Hand Size. Your Hand Size if equal to your proficiency Bonus. You may play one of these cards a turn, following the rules in the chart below. Once a card is played it goes into your discard pile. After a long rest you combine your discard pile and remaining deck and shuffle them together.

Card Table
Suit Effect
Diamond When you deal sneak attack damage you may play a diamond. At the start of the damaged creatures next turn, the target takes additional damage equal to half the Sneak Attack damage rolled.
Club When you hit a creature with a playing card attack, you may play a club. If you do, the creature has disadvantage on its attacks until your next turn.
Hearts When you hit a creature with a playing card you may play a heart to give yourself or a creature within 5 ft. of the damaged creature temp health equal to half the damage done.
Spades When you make an attack you may play a spade before you roll to hit to gain advantage on the roll. If you hit, the attack is considered as meeting the requirements for sneak attack.
Jokers Jokers can be played as any of the 4 suites. Roll a D12 and Let the DM tell you what happens.

Gambler’s Eye

Starting at 9th level, if you spend at least 1 minute observing or interacting with another creature outside combat, you can learn certain information about its capabilities. The DM tells you if the creature has expertise or proficiency in the following abilities. At the DM’s option, you might also learn one of the creatures tells or if it is lying.

  • Deception
  • Insight
  • Investigation
  • Performance
  • Persuasion
  • Stealth
  • Sleight of Hand
  • Thieves' s Tools
  • Any Gaming set

Stacking The Deck

At 13th level, you learn to find the card you need even in combat. After you draw your cards at the start of combat you may discard any number of them. Then draw Barack up to your Hand Size. When finishing a short rest you may put one card from your discard pile on top of your deck. Also, when finishing a long rest you may set 1 card aside from your discard pile and after shuffling place it on top.

Going All In

At 17th level, Your mastery over your Deck of Blades allows you to momentarily push beyond your limits.  As a bonus action on your turn, you may Go All In. When you do, flip the top card of your deck face up. Then you gain the following benefits:

  • You may play the top card of your deck as if it were in your hand.
  • Any hit with your Deck of Blades attack is considered to meet the requirements for sneak attack damage.
  • You may discard the top 10 cards of your deck to cause each creature in a 60ft cone in front of you make a Dexterity Saving Throw. The DC is equal to your Sleight of Hand Bonus. On a failed save the creature takes slashing damage equal to your sneak attack damage and on a success half that.
  • You may discard your entire hand. If you do so, for each card discarded this way make a Deck of Blades attack. Creatures damaged by this ability can only be dealt sneak attack damage once.

This state lasts for one minute, or until you are incapacitated. Also, when this effect ends you gain a level of exhaustion. Once you have used this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
