Bard
Base Class: Bard

"It's a crystal, nothing more, nothing less. But if you turn it this way and look into it, it will show you your dreams." -Jareth, Goblin King -"Labyrinth"

Bards are renowned for their ability to manipulate the emotions of their mark or their audience, and they pursue many magical avenues to accomplish these goals. The College of Morpheus has chosen to pursue this objective by manipulating the subconscious and dreams of their targets. This not only lets them manipulate the emotions of their targets, but eventually, these dreamy-eyed bards can lull nearly anyone to slumber, and create terrible nightmares or wonderful dreams as they see fit.

In may realms, this College of Bardic lore is taught only in secret societies and hidden places, sometimes by cults of associated dream-worshipers, sometimes by those who favor nightmares and terror as a means of control. In either case, this College is rare, and one must "know someone who knows someone" to even hope for initiation in its teachings.

Dreaming Visions

3rd-level College of Morpheus feature

At 3rd level, you learn the most potent secrets of the magic of dreams and nightmares, when you enter a dream-like trance yourself, your magic power increases. If it is night, you can use an action to enter a Dream-Eyed State, your eyes become starry and dreamy for the duration, and when you do so you gain the following benefits:

Darkvision. You gain Darkvision out to 120 feet.

Dream Sight. As an action in this state, you can look at a sleeping creature and immediately receive a mental impression of the target's current dream, if any, and as long as you continue to look at the target, you can continue to see that creature's dream.

Dream Spell. When you cast an Enchantment spell in this state, you gain +1 to your spell save DC. This bonus improves to +2 at 14th level. If a creature you cast an Enchantment spell on is sleeping, they suffer disadvantage on all saving throws for that spell.

These benefits last for a number of hours equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you can use this feature once before you must finish a long rest, the sun rises, or you expend a Bardic Inspiration die to use it again.

Drousing Dowsing

6th-level College of Morpheus feature

At 6th level, you become far more able to laud targets to sleep, and even the biggest and most powerful creatures can potentially be brought to slumber by your potent magical lullaby, or you can create a field of nightmares that swarm you. You learn the Sleep spell, and when you cast this spell, you may do so without expending a spell slot a number of times per day equal to your Proficiency Bonus. Additionally, when you cast the Sleep spell, creatures normally immune to Sleep, such as Elves, are not immune, and you can add a number of dice equal to your remaining dice of Bardic Inspiration as d8 dice you roll for the effect of this spell. For example, when you cast the Sleep spell and have 2 Bardic Inspiration dice remaining, you add 2d8 to the 5d8 you roll for the effect of the Sleep spell.

Additionally, you can create a small zone of nightmares around you. You learn the Fear spell, and when you cast this spell, you can cast it in a 30 foot radius area. You can choose a number of creatures equal to your Proficiency Bonus to be immune to this spell when you cast it this way as part of the action of casting this spell.

Exaltation of Dreams

14th-level College of Morpheus feature

At 14th level, you have achieved a mastery of the conscious and subconscious that few can ever attain, and you understand how to operate beyond the need for sleep as you still yet enter into dreams, even daydreams, and manipulate them all to your whim. You can now enter your Dream-Eyed State during the day, the bonus to your spell save DC for Enchantment spells you cast in this state improves to +2, and when you enter into this state you now gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your class level.

Additionally, you no longer need sleep, and you are immune to the Sleep spell and any effect that could put you to sleep against your will. You may still choose to sleep.

Lastly, you learn the Dream spell, and you can cast this spell without expending a spell slot a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier before the sun must set for you to use it again. Whenever you cast the Sleep spell, creatures that don't sleep, such as elves, can be contacted by this spell as long as they are performing no more than light activity and it is night when it is cast on them.
