Base Class: Paladin
If it is your aim to be a stalwart defender of your party and those cannot defend themselves, the Oath of Protection may be for you. Use your channel divinity to prevent damage to your allies or give enemies an incentive to attack you instead of those you care about.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Shield of Light. Immediately after an attacker within 30 feet of you makes an attack roll against a creature other than you, you can use your reaction to summon a bulwark of light that reflects the attack towards you. If the attack hits, you take only half damage. The attacker must then make a Constitution Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC or be blinded until the end of their next turn.
Shadow of War. As an action, you drop your defenses, encouraging enemies around you to press the advantage. For 1 minute each creature’s first attack each round against you is made with advantage. While Shadow of War is active you reduce damage dealt to you by an amount equal to your Constitution Modifier (minimum of 1). In addition, if an enemy that you can see within 30 feet of you attacks an ally you can use your reaction to deal radiant damage equal to your Constitution Modifier (minimum of 1) and give them disadvantage on the attack.

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Bastion of the Meek
Starting at 7th level, you can mark a target within 30 feet that you can see with a bonus action. A marked target is driven to challenge you and all attacks towards you while marked are at advantage. If the target attacks a target other than you, it does so with disadvantage. Additionally, if a marked target attacks another creature and you are within 5 feet of it you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack. Only one creature may be marked at a time. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain expended uses on a long rest.
Walk Your Own Path
Starting at 15th level, you have advantage on saving throws against being paralyzed and are immune to charm effects.
Divine Protector
At 20th level, your essence has become so honed on protecting others that you may do so without thinking about it. You can use your action to gain the following benefits for 1 minute:
- You and a number of your allies equal to your spellcasting ability modifier have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.
- The first time you or your designated allies are reduced to 0 HP, they are reduced to 1 HP instead.
- You may use your reaction to halve the damage directed at one of your allies within 30 feet of you.
This effect ends early if you are incapacitated or die. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
