Base Class: Wizard
Glyphworkers use intricate and beautiful symbology where most would use an array of materials or foci.
Endless Chalk
2nd-level Glyphworking feature
As a bonus action, you can conjure a piece of magical chalk in your free hand. The magic chalk has the following properties:
-The chalk can be used as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.
-The chalk never runs out and is a color of your choice upon creation.
This chalk disappears if you create another one or if you die.
Glyph Casting
2nd-level Glyphworking feature
You may use any writing implement as an arcane focus, provided you have a surface to write on. Doing so involves the drawing of visible glyphs.
When you cast a wizard spell using a writing implement, you may temporarily store the spell in a minor glyph with a 6 inch diameter drawn on a surface within reach, consuming the requisite spell slot and components in the process. Minor glyphs glow faintly and fade away after 1 minute, or if the object the glyph is on is moved more than 10 feet from it's original position.
In the time before a minor glyph fades away, you may activate it by touch using your bonus action. Upon activation, you select the target(s) for the spell, with the range being calculated from either the minor glyph's position or your position. Any requisite material components which are not consumed by the spell or being replaced with an arcane focus must be on hand to activate a minor glyph.
You must maintain concentration on any concentration spells cast via glyph from the moment that glyph is activated.
A spell may be counterspelled at the time a minor glyph is activated.
A minor glyph may be dispelled as if it were a spell of the level cast to make it.
You may have a number of minor glyphs equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down at any one time.
Glyph Rituals
6th-level Glyphworking feature
Any ritual which involves the replacement of any components with the drawing of glyphs, or that makes use of this feature is considered a glyph ritual.
You may ritual cast spells in your spellbook which lack the ritual tag.
Additionally, when performing a ritual, you are able to substitute material components that have a gold value with an amount of magical chalk or ink of an equal value. Any chalk or ink used in this manner is consumed by the spell. Your endless chalk will not work for this purpose. The ritual will take an additional 1 minute for every 10 GP worth of materials being replaced in this manner.
Any spell performed as a glyph ritual will leave a ritual glyph with a 3 foot diameter in place. This glyph glows faintly and will persist until activated or destroyed. The caster may activate this glyph with a touch as their bonus action. Ritual glyphs may be damaged and repaired at the DM's discretion.
Completed ritual glyphs give off a magical aura in accordance with the spell that was used to make them. Dispelling a ritual glyph is treated as though dispelling the spell used to cast it and, if successful, will render the glyph inert, but will leave any material components intact.
Flexible Activation
10th-level Glyphworking feature
You may now activate glyphs from your Glyphworking features from a distance of up to 120 feet. The range of the spell may be calculated from either the glyph's location or the location of the caster, other targeting rules apply as normal.
Additionally, you may activate a minor glyph or ritual glyph using your reaction when a creature enters its space or otherwise touches it.
Complex Glyphs
14th-level Glyphworking feature
Upon completion of a glyph ritual, you may choose to allow other creatures the ability to use their bonus action to activate the ritual glyph with a touch. The spell will consider them to be the caster, but will use your Spell Save DC and Spell Attack Bonus. You choose whether a ritual glyph may be activated by anybody or limited to activation by a specified creature. If you wish to limit activation of a ritual glyph to a specific creature other than yourself, a small amount of their blood will need to be used when performing the ritual.
Additionally, you may now change the nature of ritual glyphs you create in the following ways. The ritual will take an additional 10 minutes to complete per effect that you wish to apply to the glyph. You may not stack the same effect multiple times on a given ritual.
Lingering Glyph
Double the duration of a spell that has a duration of 1 minute or longer.
Amplified Glyph
Cast the spell at a higher level by expending a spell slot of the level the spell is being cast at during the ritual.
Resilient Glyph
Add +3 to a maximum of 20 to the DC required to counterspell or dispel both the glyph and the spell within it.
