Base Class: Druid
Druids of the Circle of the Grove have chosen to learn from the whispers of the trees and the howl of the timber wolf. Hailing from the temperate forests of the world, they often find themselves as the last bastions of defense of the wild beyond the walls of the city. They often carefully walk the line between society and nature, dedicating themselves to the art of protecting both themselves and the forest beyond.
Leaf Shed
At level 2, you can trade some of your vitality for momentary survival. When you roll an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, you can expend one of your druid hit dice, adding the number rolled to your result. You can do this a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1,) or until you no longer have any hit dice, which ever comes first. You regain uses of this ability after a long rest.
Circle Spells
You always have these spells prepared, and they count as druid spells for you.
At level 3, you gain use of the Barkskin and Calm Emotions spells.
At level 5, you gain use of the Plant Growth and Spirit Guardians spells.
At level 7, you gain use of the Freedom of Movement and Conjure Woodland Beings spells.
At level 9, you gain use of the Tree Stride and Circle of Power spells.
Canopy
Starting at 6th level, your protective magic begins to branch out from beyond your intended target, shielding others from harm. Your single target only abjuration spells, including self only spells, now also affect all creatures you designate within 5 feet of the target as long as they remain within that 5 foot radius. If that spell would normally affect a range around the target, that range is increased by 5 feet.
World Tree
When you reach 10th level, you learn to extend your consciousness outward, learning from the experiences of the local environment. Once a day, you can cast Commune With Nature without using a spell slot. When cast in this way, you can recieve information relating to events that have occured within the past week in the area, although the event must have occured outdoors. You recieve this information in the form of fragmented memories from the local wildlife.
For example, you might learn of the movements of a hunter through the memory of a wolf catching their scent on the wind, an owl listening to them move through the undergrowth, a deer bounding away after catching sight of them through the trees, or all of the above.
Mycorrhizae
At level 14, you have become uniquely attuned to the rhythms of the world around you, and the place of all life within it. As an action, your power extends even into the root-based fungal networks around you. For one minute, you gain telepathy up to a range of 120 ft. Additionally, when you deal any damage with one of your spells to a friendly target within this range, you can heal another target within range up to half the damage done. You regain the use of this ability at dawn the next morning.
