Base Class: Sorcerer
Arcanists tend to divide institutions of learning, some claiming they have not truly earned their status as a student of the arcane.
Others argue that they provide another way to interpret and test how magic works in the world.
Regardless of opinion, arcanists continue their research to gain keen insight into the metaphysical weave of magic.
Arcane Initiate
When your Spellcasting feature lets you learn a sorcerer cantrip or a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher,
you can choose the new spell from the wizard spell list or the sorcerer spell list.
You must otherwise obey all the restrictions for selecting the spell, and it becomes a sorcerer spell for you.
Innate Knowledge
Starting 1st level, you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill. When making an Intelligence (Arcana) check,
you gain a bonus equal to your Charisma modifier.
Mage Soul
Starting at 6th level, you gain resistance to force damage.
In addition, you are constantly under the effect of the mage armor spell, even when unconscious.
Advantageous Spellcasting
At 6th level, you learn to further manipulate your spellcasting.
When a spell you cast calls for an ability check, such as counterspell or dispel magic,
you can expend 1 sorcery point to roll at advantage.
Tamed Magic
At 14th level, you can expend 2 sorcery points to attempt to cast a spell that is not in your spells known list.
The spell must be a sorcerer or wizard spell, and it must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Make a Charisma (Arcana) check, casting the spell on a success. The DC equals 10 + the spell’s level.
Arcane Incarnate
Starting at 18th level, you have advantage on saving throws against spells.
Furthermore, you have resistance against the damage of spells.
