Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Blacksmithing. Beautiful. Elegant. Brutal. To cast and mould metal with nothing but skill and strength. Using a fundamental force of nature to create, tools, weapons and armor is hard work, but those of the Path of the Forge revel in it. Using the flames and metal to shape themselves as well as the weapons they craft, the fiery inferno of rage bubbling within them enough to burn the flesh of their foes. The steel of their weapons glowing with a scorching fury as they melt through their enemies, reducing them to ashes.

Bonus Proficiencies

At 3rd level, you gain twice proficiency with Smith's Tools and Glassblower's Tools.

Blazing Rage

At 3rd level, the flames of the forge still reside deep within you, fuelling your rage. When you enter your rage, your body begins to radiate heat. You gain resistance to fire and cold damage and don’t suffer the extreme effects of either. Moreover, as an action, you can touch a flammable object that isn’t being worn or carried by anyone else and set it on fire. Each creature that hits you with a melee attack or touches you must make a Constitution saving throw, the DC being 8 + your Constitution modifier + your Proficiency bonus, or take 1d4 fire damage. The damage increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 10th level, 1d10 at 15th level, and 1d12 at 20th level.

Scorching Steel

At 6th level, your inner inferno burns hot enough to affect your weapons, providing the following benefits while raging.

  • Your weapon attacks now deal additional fire damage. This damage is the same as and scales with your Blazing Rage retributive damage. This includes ranged weapons such as bows or crossbows.
  • If your weapons are made partly or entirely of metal, they meld into you and become impossible to detach unless you choose to remove them or have your limbs removed. This benefit also applies to a shield and armor if you are wielding or wearing them.
  • When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright while raging, the flames can shield you from the cold of death, ending your rage and returning you to 1 hit point. This can only be used once per short rest.

Heart of the Forge

At 10th level, the fire within can now be expelled and wielded as a tool and weapon. You gain access to the Fire Bolt and Produce Flame cantrips, and can cast them at will. You may also cast Heat Metal an amount of times equal to your Constitution modifier per long rest. Once per long rest, you can cast Scorching Ray at 5th level. You can cast these spells while raging. Constitution is your spellcasting ability score, and they do not count against your number of spells known, if you have any.

Molten Soul

At 14th level, the flames of the forge consume you, granting a host of permanent benefits.

  • You gain permanent resistance to fire and cold damage while not raging, and immunity while you are.
  • While raging, you gain a flight speed equal to your walking speed, rising on a tornado of steam and smoke.
  • Your weapons now deal the additional fire damage from Blazing Rage at all times, and the damage is doubled while you are raging.
  • Your attacks burn hot enough to ignore resistance to fire damage, and treats immunity as resistance instead. This includes spells, such as Fire Bolt, and other fire-based spells from other classes or features.
