Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who use their strength to protect an individual or enforce the cause of others walk the Path of the Minder. They are instruments of power who are the first to step into a conflict and the last to leave it - they are not afraid to get dirty when the going gets tough.

Grit

3rd-level Path of the Minder Feature

You become the embodiment of grit when you rage, affording you opportunities to strike others cannot see. Your attacks ignore half cover and you deal double damage to objects and structures. Additionally, all ranged weapons can be used as a melee weapon using Strength, dealing their damage as bludgeoning damage instead of piercing.

Making Space

6th-level Path of the Minder feature

You have learned to control the battlefield by asserting dominance over your enemies. When you hit a creature with a successful melee attack, you may choose to Shove or Grapple them.

These actions have additional effects:

Check: When you Shove a creature after a successful melee attack, you may make a ranged attack as a bonus action.

Take Hostage: When you Grapple a creature after a successful melee attack, you may attempt to disarm them - the creature must succeed on a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check against your Strength (Athletics) check.

Brute Force

10th-level Path of the Minder feature

To keep control of the battlefield, you can't be afraid of a few bullets. When grappling a creature, you move at full speed.

In addition, when you or the creature being grappled by you are the target of an attack, you may use your reaction to put yourself or that creature in the way of the attack. You or that creature act as three quarters cover - if the attack is within 5 of the targets AC, you or the creature acting as cover take the damage instead.

You Heard What the Boss Said

14th-level Path of the Minder feature

You instinctively respond to insights given by your allies in battle. You can use your reaction to cause one of the following effects:

  • You can gain temporary hit points equal to your Barbarian level plus your Constitution Modifier.
  • You may grant allies advantage on one attack against a creature you have Shoved until the start of your next turn.
  • You can attempt to slay a creature you are grappling. The target must succeed on a Constitution Saving Throw - on a failure, they drop to 0 hit points. The DC for this Saving Throw is 8 + your Strength Modifier + your Proficiency Modifier.
