Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Many Rogues are more at home in the crypts and graveyards than they are in towns and cities, picking up a bit of necromancer magic lets them call forth helpers to carry all of the treasure and loot . Graverobber Rogues learn how to create and control a skeleton or zombie, then further strengthen that control  through the use of necromancy magic.

Undead Companion

At 3rd level, you learn to use your magic to create a powerful bond with a Skeleton or Zombie.

With 8 hours of work and the expenditure of 50 gp worth of rare herbs and arcane spell components, you call forth an skeleton or zombie from a place where humanoids are burried,  like a graveyard, countryside, dungeon,  or crypt,  to serve as your enchanted companion. However, your DM might pick one of these undead for you, based on the surrounding terrain and on what types of buried creatures would logically be present in the area.

At the end of the 8 hours, your undead companion appears and gains all the benefits of your Undead Companion’s Bond ability. You can have only one Undead companion at a time.

If your undead companion is ever destroyed, the magical bond you share allows you to return it to unlife restored of damage. With 8 hours of work and the expenditure of 25 gp worth of rare herbs and arcane spell components, you call forth your necromancy magics and use your magic to create a new undead body for it. You can return an undead companion to unlife in this manner even if you do not possess any part of its body.

If you use this ability to return a former undead companion to  unlife while you have a current undead companion, your current companion leaves you and is replaced by the restored companion.

Undead Companion's Bond

Your Undead companion gains a variety of benefits while it is linked to you.

The undead companion loses its Multiattack action, if it has one. (if the DM has chosen to give you a undead companion that has one.)

The companion obeys your commands as best it can. It rolls for initiative like any other creature, but you determine its actions, decisions, attitudes, and so on. If you are incapacitated or absent, your companion acts on its own, but has your alignment and goals.

When using the Move Silently skill , you and your Undead companion can both move stealthily using your steal roll result.

Your undead companion has abilities and game statistics determined in part by your level. Your companion uses your proficiency bonus rather than its own. In addition to the areas where it normally uses its proficiency bonus, an undead companion also adds its proficiency bonus to its AC and to its damage rolls.

Your animal companion gains proficiency in two random skills, based on the corpse that was selected. Animating that corpse will always result in the same two skills.  It also becomes proficient with all saving throws. You can take 7 downtime days doing research to find a corpse with the proper two skills you are looking for instead of getting two random skills.

For each level you gain after 3rd, your undead companion gains an additional hit die and increases its hit points accordingly.

Whenever you gain the Ability Score Improvement class feature, your companion’s abilities also improve. Your companion can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or it can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, your companion can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature unless its species description specifies otherwise.

Your companion shares your alignment, and goals. Your companion shares your ideal, and its bond is always, “The rogue who travels with me is a beloved companion for whom I gladly serve. ”

Your undead companion can understand any languages you speak, but cannot speak itself.

Coordinated Attack

Beginning at 5th level, you and your undead companion form a more potent fighting team. When you use the Attack action on your turn, if your companion can see you, it can use its reaction to make a melee attack.

Undead Defense

At 13th level, while your companion can see you, it has advantage on all saving throws, and cannot be Turned while it can see you.

Undeath’s Friend

17th-level  Graverobber feature

Your Undead Companion no longer needs 8 hours to be created.
At the end of each short rest, your undead companion returns to unlife completely intact and healed. Only a wish or disintegrate spell can prevent your undead from becoming animate again.
