Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

You attempted to become a Lich well before your body could handle it. By some miracle you survived, and with some added benefits, and detriments.

Soul Fragments

At 2nd level, you've learned to use your Phylactery to hold a number of soul fragments equal to your Wizard Level.

Whenever you a Small or larger creature falls to 0 hitpoints as a reaction you can roll a d6, on a 4-6 you trap a portion of that creatures soul in your Phylactery as a Soul Fragment. This does not work on constructs or elementals.

You can use charges to do the following:

When you are attacked, you can use your reaction to expend 2 fragments to take half damage from the attack

When unconscious, on your turn you can spend 2 fragments to gain advantage on a death saving throw

All fragments(except your own) are released from your Phylactery at the end of every Long Rest as the Phylactery cannot contain them forever.

At level 11 you automatically gain a soul fragment when you personally bring a creature to 0 hitpoints

Life Force Spell Enhancement

At 2nd level, you gain the ability to use your own life force to empower your spells at a cost.

When you cast a spell at its base level, you can expend hit dice to boost a spell by 1 level per 2 hit dice expended.

When you boost a spell in this way, roll all hit dice expended and take necrotic damage equal to half the number rolled, your maximum hitpoints are reduced by the damage you take. This damage cannot be reduced or mitigated in any way.

Improved Soul Fragments

At 6th level, you gain the ability to use Soul Fragments in new and improved ways:

As a Bonus Action, you can convert expend soul fragments to recover Hit Dice equal to half the fragments expended.

When you reduce a creature to 0 Hit Points, as a reaction you can expend 3 Soul Fragments to temporarily turn them into a thrall. The thralls eyes turn a ghostly white, and cannot speak or hear, but will obey a simple command on its next turn, similar to the [spell/]command[spell/] spell. The Thrall has Hit Points equal to your Wizard level and drops dead when reduced to 0 hitpoints or at the start of your next turn.

When you roll spell damage, reroll 1's on dice by expending a number of Soul Fragments equal to the amount of dice you wish to roll.

You can now claim Soul Fragments from any creature that is reduced to 0 Hit points within 30ft of you

Beginning at 10th level, you have the ability to establish a link to an creature's soul. As an action on your turn, you can attempt to grip and latch on to a creature's soul, they must make a Wisdom Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC. On a success the creature's soul resists, on a failure you can peer into your targets soul to gain advantage on your next attack roll against that creature, and add you intelligence modifier(Minimum +1) to any Charisma based skill check against the creature. You maintain this link like you maintain concentration on a spell.

When you do this the target's soul attempts to sever the connection forcing you to make a concentration check. On a Success you maintain the link, on a failure the link is shattered and you take 3d8 necrotic damage. You can end the link yourself as a bonus action on your turn, shattering the link and dealing 3d8 Necrotic Damage. If the creature dies from this, you gain 5 Soul Fragments

After the link has been separated, you cannot only use this ability again until you finish a Short/Long Rest.

Semi Lich

Starting at 14th level, you now have the ability to briefly command the powers of a lich.

For 1 minute you have the following benefits:

  • Resistance to Non-Magical Bludgeoning, Slashing, and Piercing Damage
  • Advantage on all Saving Throws against Magical Effects
  • If you were to drop to 0 hitpoints while this ability is active, you die instantly. But revive on your next turn with half of your total Hitpoints as your Soul Fragment exits the Phylactery and returns to you. Until you finish a long rest, you cannot use any of the soul fragment abilities and if you drop to 0 Hitpoints again, you die instantly. When a long rest is finished your fragment returns and your abilities are restored.

Once this ability is used, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
