Base Class: Druid
Druids of the Circle of Fungi find beauty in decay. They see within mold and other fungi the ability to transform lifeless material into abundant, albeit somewhat strange, life. These druids believe that life and death are parts of a grand cycle, and to keep one away from the other is a violation of the natural order. They will turn cemeteries into flourishing gardens and consider cremation and boxed burial offensive or inefficient.
Druids of this circle have a complex relationship with the undead. They see nothing inherently wrong with undeath, which they consider to be a companion to life and death. But these druids believe that undeath should be supplemental to life, not a replacement. Those that seek to immortality through undeath are enemies of this circle.
These druids also use their spores to alter the minds of others, for harm or for help. Fungi in nature can help establish healthy networks in the soil and around the roots of plants that all life thrives from, but fungi can also take control of animals for their own gain. Druids of this circle use their abilities of neural manipulation with care, knowing that violating one's mind is perhaps the greatest violation there is.
Noxious Spores
2nd-level Circle of Spores 2 feature
You are surrounded by invisible, toxic spores that are harmless until you unleash them on a creature nearby. You know the poison spray cantrip and can cast it as a bonus action.
Symbiotic Entity
2nd-level Circle of Fungi feature
You gain the ability to channel magic into your spores. As an action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to awaken those spores, rather than transforming into a beast form, and you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your level and can make one symbiotic strike or cast one cantrip. While this feature is active, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your level at the start of each of your turns.
- You gain a new attack that you are proficient with called "symbiotic strike. It deals 1d6 necrotic damage, which increase at later levels in this class, and uses your wisdom modifier for attack and damage rolls. Any creature you hit with it has disadvantage on constitution saving throws until the end of your next turn.
These benefits last for 10 minutes, or until you use your Wild Shape again.
RULE TIP: TEMPORARY HIT POINTS DON'T STACK
If you have temporary hit points and receive more of them, you don’t add them together, unless a rule says you can. Instead, you decide which temporary hit points to keep. For more information on temporary hit points, see chapter 9 of the Basic Rules
Circle Spells
2nd-level Circle of Fungi feature
Your symbiotic link to fungi and your ability to tap into the cycle of life and death grants you access to certain spells. At 2nd level, you learn the chill touch cantrip.
At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of Spores Spells table. Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.
(Feel free to change up the spell list a bit, I'm having to in order to make this publishable and will use my own spell list)
Circle of Fungi Spells

|---|---|

| 7th | blight, dominate beast |

Cadaver Recycling
6th-level Circle of Fungi feature
Your spores gain the ability to aid in the harvest of corpses. You count as twice proficient in any check made to harvest parts from a dead creature.
You can also use your fungi to help recycle the recently deceased. You can use an action to turn one non-undead organic corpse that died within the last minute into an organic version of a non-magical object worth at most 100gp times the monster's challenge rating. You can also make a part of an object with this feature to be supplemented or finished later; for example, you can make a part of an organic spyglass from a cr 3 creature and complete it later by using this feature on a cr 7 creature or purchasing parts to complete it normally.
This feature can be used to craft organic versions of spell components that work as effectively as their non-organic counter-parts. It can not, however, make currency that is accepted as legal, and any items created this way are easily identifiable as counterfeit. The items created are still as effective at any function they are designed or otherwise acquired to perform as their normal counterparts.
Consuming Spores
6th level Circle of Fungi feature
You can cause your spores to secrete digestive enzymes instead of their normal methods of attack. Whenever you would deal poison or necrotic damage, you may instead deal acid damage.
Animating Mold
10th-level Circle of Fungi feature
You gain the ability to seed corpses with animating fungi. As an action you can cause a corpse of a creature you can see that died within the last minute to become an undead version of itself so long as its challenge rating or combined class level is lower than your level in this class, if such a monster exists in any D&D sourcebook your group is using (you are responsible for knowing what types of monsters have undead versions and bringing their stat blocks); for example, you can cause the corpse of a Bulette to become an Undead Bulette. This creature is under your control and follows your mental commands (no action required by you) to the best of its ability, and takes its turn immediately after yours.
Once you use this feature, you can not use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
When this effect ends on a corpse it animated or the undead drops to 0 hit points, it immediately ceases being a corpse or creature and turns into mulch, which is immune from your Fungal Recycling feature.
Fungal Body
14th-level Circle of Fungi feature
At 14th level, the fungal spores in your body alter you: you gain immunity to the poisoned, charmed, and frightened conditions, and any critical hit against you counts as a normal hit. You can also see normally in darkness.
