Base Class: Paladin
Tenets Of The Rider
The tenets of the Oath Of The Rider combines the wrath and habits of the dragons into a powerful tool.
Two Bodies, One Soul. You and your Dragon Companion may share different bodies, but you are a single force when in battle. Show them the true meaning of fear and power.
Power Of The Dragonkin. Dragons are known for their wrath in battle, with their stories striking fear and awe. Be one of these tales.
Build Your Hoard. Members of the draconic race collect fortunes for themselves, with mountains of gold and weapons being held within their lairs. Do the same. Build your lair and accumulate wealth.
Channel Divinity
Summon Dragon Companion. You can magically summon the dragon bound to you. As an action, using your Channel Divinity, you can summon the dragon, which appears in an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you.
The dragon is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. See its game statistics in the Dragon Companion stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. When you summon the dragon, choose a damage type listed in its Draconic Essence trait. You can determine the cosmetic characteristics of the dragon such as its color, scale texture, or any visible effect of its Draconic Essence; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.
In combat, the dragon shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the dragon can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.
The dragon disappears temporarily when it drops to 0 hit points or when you dismiss it as an action. Using this Channel Divinity again re-summons the bonded dragon, with all its hit points restored and any conditions removed. Whenever the dragon disappears, it leaves behind any objects it was wearing or carrying. You can't have more than one dragon summoned at the same time.
Dominate Dragon. As an action, you target one dragon creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, the target obeys the rules of the Summon Dragon Companion feature, as if it were a summoned Dragon Companion, and it's alignment changes to the same as your's for the next 24 hours, or until you use this Channel Divinity option again.
A dragon whose challenge rating is greater than your paladin level is immune to this effect. One can fail this saving throw willingly.
Bond Of Rider and Dragon
Also at 3rd level, you learn how to ride dragons, bonding your abilities with theirs. You gain the following benefits:
- You learn to speak, read, and write Draconic.
- You have advantage on saving throws made to avoid falling off your mount.
- You can land on your feet if you fall off your mount and descend no more than 10 feet, provided you are not incapacitated.
- You only need to expend 5 feet of movement in order to mount or dismount a creature.
- Whenever you or your dragon use the Divine Smite or Improved Divine Smite feature, you can change the damage type to one of the Dragon's damage immunities or resistances.

You, as well as your Dragon, gain a bonus to yours attack and damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1).
You can use your Divine Smite feature through your Dragon's attacks.
If the dragon was dismissed while this feature is used, it appears right underneath you, making you automatically ride it, but with half it's hit point maximum (rounded down). Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
