Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Your skills and abilities have been put to use in the pursuit and study of storms, both mundane and magical. Storm Chaser's are some of the most scattered conclaves as its members span much of the world. They dedicate themselves to understanding and predicting the changes in coming weather. Storm Chasers seek to predict natural disasters and prevent great tragedy as a result. Often times they are the first on the scene when nature turns violent. Leading evacuation efforts and preventing as much damage as possible. To both Nature and Civilization.

Elemental Nimbus

At 3rd level, you gain an Elemental Nimbus companion that accompanies you on your adventures. Choose one of the four energy types (fire, thunder, cold, or lightning), Your elemental companion has resistance to your selected energy type. As an action, you can magically summon the Elemental Nimbus that is bound to you. It appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of you. Add your proficiency bonus to the elemental’s AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in. Its hit point maximum equals the hit point number in its stat block or four times your ranger level, whichever is higher. Like any creature, it can spend Hit Dice during a short rest to regain hit points.

The elemental obeys your commands as best as it can. It takes its turn on your initiative. On your turn, you can verbally command the elemental where to move (no action required by you). You can use your action to verbally command it to take the Dash, Disengage, or Help action. If you don't issue a command, the beast takes the Dodge action.

If you are incapacitated or absent, the beast acts on its own, focusing on protecting you and itself. The elemental never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.

When the elemental companion is within 5ft of you, you gain advantage on concentration checks to maintain spells.
