Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of Lightning Arts practice the tradition of understanding nature and properties of electricity. These monks dedicate themselves to honing their bodies to match the abilities lightning provides to them. They learn to manipulate the lightning as a force of nature while perfecting their bodies to match the speed of lightning. Some monasteries are located in more natural environments where the monks learn about lightning from natural sources. Others monasteries are located in cities and urban areas where these monks help with more industrial means of generating electricity. Regardless of the practitioner, these monks are dedicated towards understanding the goods/evils brought about by lightning and electricity.

Basics of Lightning Arts

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the shocking grasp cantrip. When you cast the spell shocking grasp as an action, you can choose to immediately follow up with a flurry of blows as a bonus action.

When you take the flurry of blows action, you can replace the Martial Arts damage die with that of a d8. This die changes to a d10 at 11th level and a d12 at 17th level. This die does lightning damage and can only be applied to damage done by your flurry of blows. You also gain resistance to lightning damage.
