Base Class: Artificer
As a Gem Crafter, you create a homunculus imbued with a powerful gem. The artificer may have learned to channel his power into these gems from piety with a deity, or as a gift from a Gem Dragon.
Tool Proficency
When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with jeweler’s tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.
Gem Crafter Spells
Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Gem Crafter Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.
3rd Lvl: Guiding Bolt, Inflict Wounds.
5th Lvl: Shatter, Tasha's Mind Whip.
9th Lvl: Blink, Pulse Wave.
13th Lvl: Fabricate, Phantasmal Killer.
17th Lvl: Destructive Wave, Wall of Force.
Gem Homunculus
Starting at 3rd level, whenever you finish a long rest you can create one type of gem from the Gem Table, which serves as the heart of a special homunculus, around which the creature's body instantly forms.
Gem Damage Type
Amethyst Force
Crystal Radiant
Emerald Psychic
Sapphire Thunder
Topaz. Necrotic
It's friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See its game statistics in the Gem Homunculus stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. You determine the homunculus's appearance, and whether it has two legs or four; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.
In combat, the homunculus shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the homunculus can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.
If the Mending spell is cast on it, it regains 2d6 hit points. The homunculus remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points, until you use this feature to create a new gem, or until you die. Anything the homunculus was wearing or carrying is left behind when the homunculus and it's gem heart vanishes.
Once you create a Gem Homunculus, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to create it. If you already have a homunculus from this feature, the first one and it's gem heart immediately perishes.

Gem Infused Focus
At 5th level, You know how to turn a wand, staff, or rod into a gem infused focus. When you create the gem heart for your Gem Homunculus, you can use your jeweler's tools to bond one wand, staff, or rod with the power of that gem. The bond disappears from the object if you later create a new gem. The bond otherwise lasts indefinitely.
You can use your gem infused focus as a spellcasting focus for your artificer spells. When you cast an artificer spell through this focus, you can temporarily replace its damage type with the damage type associated with the gem. If you do, add your Intelligence modifier to one damage roll of that spell.
Bond of the Gem Heart
At 9th level, the bond you share with your Gem Homunculus intensifies, protecting you and empowering the homunculus. When you summon your gem homunculus, it grows spectral wings on its back and gains a flying speed equal to its walking speed.
In addition, while your homunculus is summoned, you and the homunculus gain the following benefits:
Bonded Strikes:
The homunculus’s Gem Empowered Strikes attack deals extra damage equal to your Intelligence modifier.
Resistance. You gain resistance to the damage type associated with the gem chosen.
Gem Breath Weapon
As an action, you can exhale a 30-foot cone of damaging breath or cause your homunculus to exhale it. Each creature in the cone must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature takes 3d10 damage, this damage can be Force, Radiant, Psychic, Thunder, or Necrotic, (it does not have to be the same damage type associated with your Homunculus). On a successful save, it takes half as much damage. This damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 15th level (4d10).
You can use your Gem Breath Weapon a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Superior Bond
Superior Bond:
At 15th level, your bond to your homunculus reaches the pinnacle of its power. While your homunculus is summoned, you and the homunculus gain the following benefits:
Superior Strikes:
The homunculus’s Gem Empowered Strikes attack deals an extra 1d8 damage of the type associated with your Gem Affinity.
Reactive Resistance:
When either you or the homunculus takes damage while you’re within 30 feet of each other, you can use your reaction to give yourself or the homunculus resistance to that instance of damage. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
