Base Class: Blood Hunter (archived)
A world beyond the mirror.
Hunters of the order of the Looking Glass all share one connection. at one time or another, be it before or after taking up the mantle of hunter, they have glimpsed a world many think to be entirely made up. All who have seen it have come to know it as Wonderland. There are a few ways to access wonderland, however the most common is by passing through a mirror, hence the name of the order. Those who join the order are given a variation of the original hunters bane, this one derived from plants only found in wonderland, thus forever twisting themselves with the chaotic and bizarre nature of that land.
Curioser and Curiouser Still.
The realm of wonderland seems to have a somewhat detrimental effect on the sanity of its denizens. Almost all of them show some degree of insanity, yet strangely enough no mater how far gone a denizen of wonderland is, they never seem to loose their heads completely. As a member of this order, you are marked by this same curse, the Hunters bane slowly driving you mad, yet allowing you to retain your ability to reason.
Edge of Chaos.
The chaotic and ever shifting nature of wonderland can be chanelled though your blood into you're blade. When you hit with an attack with a weapon currently affected by your blood rite you may roll a D4, triggering the corresponding effect instead of dealing your normal rite damage.
1| You may add your wisdom modifier to your attack as well as other modifiers, this extra damage is of the same type as your active rite. If you have different rites active then it uses the damage of the rite on the weapon you attacked with.
2| The target is stunned for a number of rounds equal to your rite damage die
3| The chaotic nature in your blood boils over causing you to take damage equal to your rite damage die and dealing half that damage to your target.
4| You gain the effects of a barbarians rage for 1d6 turns, however you also become vulnerable to your rite damage type for the duration of the rage.
You may use this feature once per long rest.
A Space Beyond the Mirror.
Also when you join this order, you gain access to a space within the mirror, allowing you to stow one object no larger than a one handed weapon within it, this space can be accessed from any reflective surface. Withdrawing an item from this space is the same as withdrawing it from any other container and may be done as part of your attack if done with a weapon. At 5th level you expand your reach beyond the mirror allowing you to store up to 25lbs within the mirror space.
Mad as a Hatter.
Begining at 7th level the everchanging nature of wonderland begins to effect even you. You gain a quirk that you decide upon at this time, this quirk can be anything from an obsession with being on time, to an overwhelming and almost frightening love of tea. Additionally you become harder to read as your sanity is barely even there, imposing disadvantage on all attempts to discern if you are lying. And granting you advantage on wisdom checks made to lie.
Through the Looking Glass
Begining at 11th level you learn to transport yourself though the mirror space as well. By stepping into any reflective surface that is as big as your body you may exit from any other reflective surface of equal size or larger within 50ft of your original entry point. at 15th level this range increases to 100ft.
Off With Their Head
Beginning at 15th level, when you score a critical hit with a weapon that has an active blood rite you may choose to decapitate the target instead of dealing extra damage. You may use this feature once per long rest.
A Grin Without a Cat
Beginning at 18th level you have gained the ability to slip between wonderland and this world in an instant. when you kill an enemy with your blood rite active you may choose to vanish and reappear in a space adjacent to another enemy within 75ft of the previous, this movement can be made even if you had already moved previously on your turn, however doing so will render you unable to make any more attacks until your next turn if this is the case.
