Base Class: Barbarian
For some barbarians, rage is a means to an end—that end being violence. The Path of the Berserker is a path of untrammeled fury, slick with blood. As you enter the berserker’s rage, you thrill in the chaos of battle, heedless of your own health or well-being.
Frenzy Fix: I cleaned up the action economy of frenzy, it was originally worded so you couldn't actually use the bonus action till the turn after you frenzy. I also made it so at level 10 the bonus action attack turns into 2 attacks. also no exhaustion thank the gods!
Mindless Rage: no change
Ability added: Mindless rage, while not needing to be fixed I felt didn't add enough? So I added Relentless Assault, granting bonus action dash and a 3x jumping bonus when you take the bonus action. This was added to increase the barbarians movement a bit to make it easier to engage enemies in 3 dimensions.
Intimidating Presence: Changed save dc to use strength instead of charisma. Made the frightened condition last a minute. uses a bonus action instead of full action. and essentially copy pasted the cause fear spell for saving from the fear condition.
Retaliation: No Change
Ability Added: Retaliation is fine but not much of a subclass cap so I added a critical hit increase of 19-20. pairs well with Brutal Critical.
Now this may seem like a lot of additions but compared to other subclasses i feel this just brings the berserker into usable where as before it was garbage. Berserker is obviously combat oriented with no utility outside of combat...and that is perfectly fin, so I just ramped it up to 11, let me know what you think of it.
Frenzy
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can go into a frenzy when you rage. If you do so, for the duration of your rage you can make a single melee weapon attack as a bonus action on each of your turns. This increases to two melee weapon attacks at Level 10.
Relentless Assault
Starting at 6rd level, You furious assault and mindless drive to reach the source of your rage grants you a few abilities. While Raging you can take a bonus action on each of your turns in combat. This action can be used to take the Dash action. As well when you use this ability your jump distance is tripled for that turn.
Mindless Rage
Beginning at 6th level, you can’t be charmed or frightened while raging. If you are charmed or frightened when you enter your rage, the effect is suspended for the duration of the rage.
Intimidating Presence
Beginning at 10th level, you can use your bonus action to frighten someone with your menacing presence. When you do so, choose one creature that you can see within 30 feet of you. If the creature can see or hear you, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be frightened of you for 1 minute. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
If the creature succeeds on its saving throw, you can’t use this feature on that creature again for 24 hours.
Retaliation
Starting at 14th level, when you take damage from a creature that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature.
Critical Berserker
Your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
