Base Class: Fighter
Dragon Knights are elite warriors who channel the martial mastery characteristic of fighters alongside the supernatural power of dragons. Perhaps you come from an order of knights under the command of a powerful and benevolent metallic dragon, or you have sworn allegiance and fealty to a grand conquering chromatic dragon, or maybe you have the blood of dragons in you and this is simply how that magic manifests. Whatever the case may be however, these fighters are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, marching with their scale themed armour, breathing the elements upon their foes, flying when needed and instilling fear upon all those unwise enough to underestimate those chosen by dragons.
Dragon Focus
Beginning when you first choose this archetype at 3rd level, your connection to dragons first manifests. You learn the Thaumaturgy cantrip (Charisma is your spellcasting ability modifier for this spell), you can speak, read, and write Draconic, and whenever you make a Charisma check when interacting with dragons, you do so with advantage.
In addition, choose one type of dragon as your connection to dragonkin. The damage type associated with each dragon is used by features you gain later.

Dragon Breath
Also at 3rd level, you can use an attack to exhale destructive energy. The size and damage dice are determined by your fighter level, as shown in the Dragon Breath table below. You choose the shape (Cone or Line) of your dragon breath when you use it. Your dragon breath deals damage of the type chosen for your Dragon Focus.
When you use your dragon breath, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a Dexterity saving throw. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier. A creature takes the damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to 1 + your proficiency bonus. You regain one expended use when you finish a short rest, and all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Mantle of the Greatwyrm
Starting at 7th level, you gain resistance to the damage type chosen for your Dragon Focus (add in character sheet).
Additionally, you gain the following features, which have a combined number of uses equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest:
- Whenever a creature within 30 feet of you takes damage of your Dragon Focus type, you can use your reaction to give them resistance to that damage, or give yourself immunity to that damage.
- Whenever you make a Charisma(Intimidation) or Charisma(Persuasion) check, you can give yourself a bonus to the roll equal to your Constitution modifier.
Dragonblade Strike
At 10th level, you can empower your attacks with the essence of draconic breath. Whenever you make an attack, before the result is determined, you can prime your weapon with magic. If the attack hits, it has an additional effect based on the damage type chosen by your Dragon Focus. When you prime your weapon and don't hit with the attack, you don't expend a use. You can use this feature once, regaining the ability to use it again when you finish a short or long rest.
In addition, whenever you use your Dragon Breath feature, your next weapon attack gains the benefit of your Dragonblade Strike, without expending a use.

Damage Type |

Acid |
At the beginning of its next turn, the target takes an additional 4d4 acid damage. |
|
Cold |
The target becomes restrained until the beginning of your next turn, as it’s partially encased in ice. |
|
Fire |
The target of the attack takes an additional 3d6 fire damage. |
|
Lightning |
Choose any number of creatures within 5 feet of the target. They take 2d8 lightning damage. |
|
Poison |
The target has disadvantage on all ability checks and attack rolls until the beginning of your next turn. |
Dragon Flight
Starting at 15th level, you gain the ability to sprout visible spectral wings made of raw energy, of a type of your Dragon Focus. You can do so as a bonus action on your turn, and you can make them vanish as a bonus action on your turn. While the wings are active, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
In addition, whenever you activate your Second Wind or Action Surge features, you may sprout the wings (no action required). If you do so, your flying speed is doubled until the end of your turn.
Call of the Dragon Disciple
By the time you’ve reached 18th level, you can call upon draconic aid whenever you need it. On your turn, as long as you haven’t used your Action Surge feature, you may use your Action to conjure a dragon on an unoccupied space within 60 feet of you. The space must be big enough to fit the dragon, and once you use this feature, you can’t use your Action Surge feature this turn. The dragon must be an Adult Dragon of the type chosen by your Dragon Focus, or younger, but of the same type.
In combat, the dragon shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the dragon can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.
The dragon remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points or for 1 hour. Once you summon the dragon, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
