Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Spellcasters who seek to devote themselves wholly to the Spider Queen sometimes walk the dark path of the arachnomancer. By offering up body and soul to Lolth, they gain tremendous power and a supernatural connection to the ancient spiders of the Demonweb Pits, channeling magic from that dread place.

Spider Climb

The Arachnomancer has an innate climbing speed of 40 feet, and can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check. Additionally, the Arachnomancer is not impeded by web-like surfaces that would otherwise be considered difficult terrain.

Spider Shepard

Starting at 6th level, you can cast the conjure animals spell without expending a spell slot. This does not add to the number of warlock spells you know. This spell can only summon spiders or giant spiders. An Arachnomancer may expend a spell slot when casting this spell in order to subvert the CR limit on this casting to summon a phase spider. You can use this ability once per short rest.

Venomous Bite

Beginning at 10th level, an Arachnomancer gains a pair of spectral mandibles. With these mandibles they can make a bite attack that can leave the target deeply wounded. The bite attack uses Charisma for its attack roll. The bite deals 2d12 poison damage. This damage is not reduced by resistance to poison damage, and it treats immunity to poison damage as if it were resistance. The target must then make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure the target is marked for the next minute. Each time the target takes poison damage while marked, it takes an additional die of damage, depending on the source. The marked target can make Constitution saving throws at the start of each of its turns in order to overcome the mark.

The Obsidian Spider

Starting at 14th level, an Arachnomancer is able to transform into a giant Obsidian Spider. They retain their mental stats, but they take on the form of a giant spider with the following statblock changes:

  • Your AC is 18
  • Your hit points are doubled.
  • Your Constitution score is 14
  • Your attacks are made with Charisma and your damage dice are increased to d10s
  • All DCs are made against your spell save DC
