Base Class: Monk
Through heightening your natural senses and reflexes, you learn to feel the flow of ki in all things. Your harmony with reality allows you to sense things beyond what some would consider possible. As you meditate further, you become able to detect when the flow of ki is being disrupted and become able to bend its flow to your own ends, even becoming able to detect changes before they happen.
You may be an expert martial artist who sees your powers as the product of intense training of mind and body, or you may be in the pursuit of spiritual knowledge of the true nature of reality. Regardless, you learn to heighten your senses through eliminating one - sight. You may have lost your sight, or perhaps you simply blindfold yourself to better trust in your other senses, but you have developed a mystical sense to feel your surroundings beyond mundane methodologies.
The Sixth Sense
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your senses are heightened through your attunement to the flow of ki that you begin to develop a Sixth Sense. You gain expertise in the Perception skill and develop blindsight within a 30ft radius. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn’t behind total cover, even when blinded. You can still be fooled by visual illusions, and other sensory illusions can also still deceive you. Whilst deafened, your blindsight is reduced to 10ft. If you are blinded but can hear or otherwise sense an enemy, they are not considered an unseen attacker for you.
Ki Focus
Channelling the power of your Sixth Sense in moments of need, you enter a state of heightened focus in which you see through deceptive magics. If you are blinded when you roll initiative, you can choose to channel your Sixth Sense to enter a state of Ki Focus (no action required). Alternatively, you can use a bonus action to enter your Ki Focus, so long as you are blinded.
Whilst in your Ki Focus state, you gain the following benefits:
- Your blindsight radius increases to 60ft.
- You cannot be tricked by illusion spells of 2nd level or lower.
- You can use a bonus action to make a Wisdom (Perception) check to locate a hidden creature.
Your Ki Focus lasts for 1 minute, but ends early if you are deafened or incapacitated, if you are no longer considered blinded or if you don any armour or a shield.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Mystical Perception
Taking the time to meditate on your surroundings, you can sense magical effects around you. You gain the ability to cast the Detect Magic spell normally once per day. You can also cast the spell as a ritual, which does not expend a use of this feature.
Blinding Strikes
At 6th level, you learn to disrupt your enemy's senses, exploiting the flow of ki to blind them. Whilst in your Ki Focus state, once per turn when you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by the Flurry of Blows feature the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be blinded until the start of their next turn.
Ki Shield
You learn to augment the flow of ki around you to form a shield of force around you. Whilst in your Ki Focus state, when you use your Patient Defense you can spend 1 additional ki point to gain half cover until the start of your turn. Whilst this cover is active, you take no damage from the Magic Missile spell.
Step On The Wind
You learn to control the flow of ki around you in such a way that you can concentrate its energy and run through the air as if it were ground. Whilst in your Ki Focus state, when you use your Step of the Wind you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed until the end of your turn.
Ki Sight
In your meditation, you have discovered a way to perceive the true nature of things with complete precision. As a bonus action, you can spend 4 ki points to activate your Ki Sight, which grants you truesight out to a range of 120ft. Your Ki Sight lasts for 1 hour, but ends early if you are incapacitated.
You are still able to use your Ki Focus when your Ki Sight is active. Whilst both your Ki Focus and Ki Sight are active, each hit with a monk weapon or unarmed strike deals extra force damage equal to your Wisdom modifier, and once per turn when you hit with an unarmed strike you can spend 1 ki point to use Dispelling Touch. Dispelling Touch deals no damage. Instead, when you use Dispelling Touch you attempt to end one illusion spell targeting the creature you hit. If the illusion spell is of 3rd level or lower, it ends. If the illusion spell is of 4th level or higher, the original caster must make a saving throw with its spellcasting modifier against your ki save DC. On a failed save, the illusion spell ends.
Sagacious Wisdom
Your connection with the ki has grown so strong that you gain limited insight into the future, granting you quicker reactions and making your attacks more potent. You can cast Foresight on yourself. Whilst the spell is active, you gain the benefits of your Ki Focus.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
