Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Flame Breathing is a Breathing Style that mimics flames and replicates it with the user's movements, techniques and abilities. Most, if not all, known techniques and forms involve extremely powerful singular strikes which 'burn' their opponents, with most attacks being initiated from a high stance.

Total Concentration

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn maneuvers that are fueled by special dice called superiority dice.

Breathing Techniques. You learn two breathing techniques of your choice, which are detailed under “Breathing Techniques” below.

You learn additional techniques of your choice at 7th, 10th, and 15th level. Each time you learn new techniques, you can also replace one technique you know with a different one.

Superiority Dice. You have four superiority dice, which are d8s. A superiority die is expended when you use it. You regain all of your expended superiority dice when you finish a short or long rest.

You gain another superiority die at 7th level and one more at 15th level.

Student of War

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with one type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Breathing Techniques

The forms are presented in order.

1. First Form: Unknowing Fire

The user dashes towards the target at tremendous speeds, before unleashing a singular horizontal slash directed at the targets neck for a decapitation.

As an action, you may expend one Concentration die to move up to 15 ft towards a creature and perform a single weapon attack against it. On a hit, deal additional fire damage equal to your Concentration die.

2. Second Form: Rising Scorching Sun

The user unleashes an arcing vertical slash in an upwards motion, often brought up from a tail guard.

When you make a weapon attack, you may expend a Concentration die and add to extra d6 fire damage to the attack. If your target is above you or at least one size larger than you, use the value of your Concentration die instead.

3. Third Form: Blazing Universe

The user performs an arcing downwards vertical slash, often brought down from a high guard.

When you make a weapon attack, you may expend a Concentration die and add to extra d6 fire damage to the attack. If your target is below you or at least one size smaller than you, use the value of your Concentration die instead.

4. Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation

The user performs a singular slash or multiple if needed, in a fluid circular motion to defend from incoming attacks and decapitate multiple targets.

When you make a weapon attack, you may expend a Concentration die to target any enemies within melee range. You deal fire damage for this attack.

5. Fifth Form: Flame Tiger

The user dashes forth, bringing their sword into a high guard before performing a series of sword slashes which take the form of a flaming tiger enveloping the user.

As an action, you may move up to your remaining movement speed towards a creature. After moving in this way, your movement speed is set to 0 until the end of your turn. You can make up to three weapon attacks without using an action on this turn, but may not use other breathing techniques this turn. Use your Concentration die for the damage rolls, which deal fire damage.

9. Ninth Form: Esoteric Art: Rengoku

The most powerful Flame Breathing technique. The user assumes a high stance before performing an extremely high-speed dash towards the target and unleashing a singular, devastating slash.

As an action, you may expend three concentration dice to move up to your movement speed towards a creature, before making a melee weapon attack against them. On a successful hit, deal an extra d20 + your concentration die fire damage.

Know Your Enemy

Starting at 7th level, if you spend at least 1 minute observing or interacting with another creature outside combat, you can learn certain information about its capabilities compared to your own. The DM tells you if the creature is your equal, superior, or inferior in regard to two of the following characteristics of your choice:

  • Strength score
  • Dexterity score
  • Constitution score
  • Armor Class
  • Current hit points
  • Total class levels (if any)
  • Fighter class levels (if any)

Total Concentration Breathing: Constant

At 10th level, your Concentration dice turn into d10s. At 18th level, they turn into d12s.

Relentless

Starting at 15th level, when you roll initiative and have no Concentration dice remaining, you regain one Concentration die.

Hashira

At 18th level, your superiority dice turn into d12s. You have almost mastered the art of Flame Breathing.
