Base Class: Barbarian
Some barbarians let the rage take control of them, while other barbarians learn to take control of the rage. The Path of the Brute barbarians hone their rage into a weapon of its own, as an extension of one's self. When these barbarians rage, they stare death in the face with out blinking, time slows around them as they bare a strength matched only by monsters.
Adrenaline
3rd-level Path of the Brute feature
You carry within you power for extraordinary strength. This power is represented by your adrenaline dice, which are each a d6. You have a number of dice equal to twice your proficiency bonus, and they enable various physical abilities, which are detailed below.
Some of your powers expend the adrenaline die they use, as specified in a power’s description, and you can’t use a power if it requires you to use a die when your dice are all expended. You regain all your expended adrenaline dice when you finish a long rest. In addition, as a bonus action, or when you go into a rage, you can regain one expended adrenaline die, but you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
When you reach certain levels in this class, the strength of your adrenaline dice increases: at 5th level (d8), 11th level (d10), and 17th level (d12). The powers below use your Adrenaline dice.
Heightened Reflexes. When you make a roll for initiative, you can expend one adrenaline die and add the adrenaline die to the total.
Stomp. When you take the attack action on your turn, you can spend one adrenaline die to replace one of your attacks with a heavy stomp. Every creature within 5 feet of you must make a DEX saving throw, the DC is 8 + your proficiency modifier + your STR modifier. On a failed save, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to the number rolled on your adrenaline die plus your STR modifier. On a successful save the creature takes half damage.
Hardy Vigor. As a bonus action on your turn, or when you enter a rage, you can expend one adrenaline die and gain temporary hit points equal to the adrenaline die plus your CON modifier.
Brutish Force
6th-level Path of the Brute feature
You have garnered new ways to push your form to its limits, detailed below.
Extreme Speed. As a bonus action, or when going into a rage, you can spend two adrenaline dice to double your movement speed, and you don't provoke opportunity attacks from any creatures. This effect ends at the end of your turn.
Monstrous Power. As a bonus action, or when going into a rage, you can spend two adrenaline dice and add their numbers to the damage of your next successful weapon attack. This ability wares off when your rage does, or after 1 minute.
Fueled by Fury
10th level Path of the Brute feature
You gain strength from taking a hit, making you a harder foe to fell. Once per round while you are raging, taking damage to your health restores one adrenaline die.
Sheer Focus
14th-level Path of the Brute feature
Time slows as your senses are pushed to their limits. As a bonus action, or when going into a rage, you can expend 2 adrenaline dice to gain an extra attack when you take the attack action.
