Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Khorne, chaos god of Blood and War, inspires a love of violence and bloodshed in the hearts of his followers. While many of his warriors have been reduced to nothing but rage-fueled savages, there are many that retain a sworn oath to the Blood God that directs every stroke of their blade. These paladins of the Hound fight with both honor and savagery, eager to teach all living beings the fury of Khorne.

Tenants of the Hound

Though the Blood God cares not from where the blood flows, there are a number of tenants that his truest followers must swear to. Those who follow the Path of the Hound must swear to the Oath of Khorne as if they were Paladins, and may receive punishment for breaking it.

Oath of Khorne

  • Battle: Followers of Khorne will seek out battle wherever they can find it. They will kill and pillage in his name because that is what he wishes, and all other reasons come second to that one. Do this to bring glory to the blood hoard and skulls to the skull throne!
  • Rage: Followers of Khorne will never hide their emotions. Rage should be expressed and wielded until it is exhausted (if that is even possible) or there are no more targets to wield it against.
  • Honor: Followers of Khorne must never fight without honor. All foes should be fought face to face without ranged weaponry or sorcery and given ample time to prepare themselves for the challenge before they begin. Anything less is unbecoming of a Khorneate warrior and dishonors the Blood god.

Followers of Khorne cannot use ranged weapons, non-paladin spells (excluding oath spells), or magic items that are not exclusive to paladins or barbarians. Those that intentionally break this rule are considered to have broken their oath. Unwilling violations of this restriction may be overlooked should they happen infrequently. The punishment for breaking the Oath of Khorne ranges from penalties to strength or even the temporary removal of one's subclass features.

Prayers of the Berserker

At 3rd level, those who follow Khorne can call upon their god to create powerful divine effects. While raging, you may attempt to use your bonus action to try and invoke one of the following abilities in a manner similar to a Paladin's Channel Divinity. When you use this feature, you choose which option to use. You must then finish a short or long rest to use your Prayers of the Berserker again. Some Prayers of the Berserker effects require saving throws. When you use such an effect from this class, the DC equals your Unarmored Defense armor class.

  • Khorne's Disdain. You call upon Khorne's will to oppose all those who fight dishonorably. All creatures within 30ft of you must succeed a charisma saving throw. On a failed save, a creature has disadvantage on ranged attacks and spells, but gains advantage on melee attacks until the start of your next turn.
  • Divine Fury. You call down the blessings of Khorne onto yourself and your allies. You and any willing friendly creatures within 30ft gain the benefits of a barbarian's Rage feature for 1 round, but cannot cast spells. After the round ends, all creatures affected receive -2 to attack rolls for 1 round.
  • Blood God's Blessings. You call upon the power of Khorne to replicate the effect of one of the spells detailed in the Blood God's Blessing table. The spell you replicate must be of a level equal to or lower than your Barbarian level. This is not considered to be a magical effect or spell.

Aura of Rage

At 6th level, your raw power and fury creates an aura around you of pure primal rage. You cannot fully end this aura power, but you can control when it ebbs and flows. You permantly have -1 to persuasion checks and +2 to intimidation, as your mere presence dissuades the cowardly.

While you are raging, your aura flares up, enhancing it's abilities for one minute. While your aura is empowered in this way you have disadvantage on all charisma checks except for intimidation. You also add your STR modifier to any intimidation checks you make as your powerful aura causes all those around you to reconsider their own strength in comparison. While your aura is empowered, any creature that can see you must make a charisma saving throw when they look at you for the first time. On a failed save, they become frightened of you. They can repeat this save at the start of each of their turns to attempt to end this effect.

Unstoppable Fury

At 10th level, your fury has grown so powerful that it has become a force strong enough to oppose even the strongest of wills. Khorne has recognized this, and will come to your aid in your time of need.

  • You have advantage on saving throws against spell effects.
  • When a creature attempts to reduce your movement, restrain you, remove one of your actions, or if your hitpoints would be reduced to 0; you can use your reaction to call upon Khorne's will. If your movement would have been reduced, you would have been restrained, or your action would have been removed; it is not. If you would fall to 0 hitpoints you instead drop to 1 hitpoint. You then gain +10 to your AC until and advantage on melee attacks until the start of your next turn. At the start of your next turn, Khorne's fury burns out and you take 3d10 fire damage that cannot be reduced in any way. After you use this feature, you cannot use it again for 8 days.

Demon of Bloodshed

At 14th level, you gain the highest honor a mortal servant of chaos can achieve, the status of becoming a daemon prince. You are now a favored champion of your god, and they bless you with gifts befitting of your evil deeds in their name. For now your power is limited, but one day you shall be able to ascend to your true form permanently. You may use a bonus action to transform into a Daemon Prince for 1 hour. While you are a Daemon Prince, you gain the following abilities.

  • Your creature type become fiend and you can become 1 size larger if you choose.
  • You gain a pair of leathery wings that grant you a flying speed of 30ft. Additionally, you gain claws as natural weapons. These are treated as heavy weapons that you are proficient in that deal 1d6 slashing damage and 1d4 fire damage.
  • Your Prayers of the Berserker Divine Fury and Khorne's Disdain now lasts as long as you maintain concentration on them. You gain an additional use of your Blessings of the Blood God per long rest.
  • Your Unstoppable Rage ability is restored every day instead of every 8 days.
  • Your Aura of Rage evolves to its ultimate form, inspiring violence around you. The effects of your empowered Aura of Rage replace the passive effects. It's active effect becomes "While you are raging, you may force all creatures within 15ft must make a charisma saving throw. On a failed save, they will spend each of their turns moving towards nearest creature and attacking them. Should multiple creatures be the same distance from them, they will prioritize creatures considered to be your enemy first. They can repeat this save at start of each of their turns to attempt to end this effect."

At 20th level, the time restriction of this feature is removed.
