Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Oni are seen as fearsome monsters in many cultures, able to destroy nearly anything and everything that stands in their way, with no remorse for those harmed by their destruction. As a barbarian, the primal path you have chosen to go down is one where destruction shall reign supreme in your life, your body a vessel for the raging flames of the ogres you so heinously represent on the battlefield.

Baleful Grasp

Beginning at 3rd level, your strength is an imposingly powerful force, rivaling that of giants and titans. When wielding a versatile weapon in one hand, you may use the two-handed damage die.

Additionally, you may wield a two-handed melee weapon in one hand, treating it as a one-handed weapon. You have disadvantage on attack rolls made when wielding a two-weapon this way.

Ring of Embers

Starting at 6th level, the fire that burns inside of you manifests as a searing ring of flames that hovers at your back, roasting both your flesh and your enemies. As a bonus action, or, alternatively, when you begin a rage (no action required), you can choose to take damage equal to your barbarian level and reduce your maximum hit points by the same amount. When you do so, for the next minute, all of your melee weapon attacks deal additional fire damage equal to twice your rage damage bonus. This hit point maximum reduction lasts until the end of your next long rest.

Ogre's Curse

At 10th level, you can send forth horrifying messages and images to your victims. You can cast the dream spell, without a spell slot or material components. When you cast dream in this way, you use your Strength as your spell casting ability, and you can only make the messenger appear monstrous and terrifying.

After casting dream in this way, you must take a long rest before doing so, again.

Wrath of the Oni

By 14th level, the full power of the fearsome oni blesses you. When you enter a rage, you can choose to take on the form of an oni, for the duration of your rage. Until your rage ends, you take on the horrifying traits of the oni, such as their horns and fangs, and you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain the benefits of the enlarge/reduce spell (enlarge only).
  • When a hostile creature starts its turn while within 10 feet of yourself, it takes fire damage equal to your rage damage bonus + 1.
  • You no longer suffer disadvantage for wielding a two-handed melee weapon in one hand.

Once your rage ends, you must take a short or long rest before using this feature, again.

Blazing Hatred

Additionally, at 10th level, the flames that emanate from you penetrate through your enemies defenses. Fire damage you deal with weapon attacks or class features ignore fire resistance, and treat immunity to fire damage as only resistance.
