Base Class: Monk

Those who follow the Way of the Guarded Fist devote their lives to protecting that which is sacred to them, the order, or to all of life itself. They are what stands on the line between good and evil, a line that many try to cross but never succeed. Some might be descendants of Guardians who protected relics long ago, picking up the mantle and continuing their family's work. Or a Monk who wanted to lean less on fighting prowess and learn about the defensive capabilities of ki itself. Others might simply be guards who took a liking to the teachings and decided to devote their life to the order to better protect whatever it is they hold sacred. Regardless of their walk of life, they all seem to want to learn and live by the teachings of these Monastic Guards; To protect and to defend, that which is sacred.

Defensive Arts

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to harness your ki to better protect yourself and your allies, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to cast Warding Bond, Aid or Shield (as a reaction), without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the Blade Ward cantrip if you don’t already know it.

Superior Deflection

Starting at 6th level, you begin to master your guardian spirit within you. You can now use your reaction to deflect ranged magical spell attacks as well, though it must be a spell that only targets one person. When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 4d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your monk level.

If you reduce the damage to 0, you can use 2 ki points and choose to redirect the attack back at the enemy, though you must have at least one hand free to do so.

Fists Of Retribution

Your better understanding of ki allows you to enhance your reflexes and harness more energy into your attacks. When an enemy targets an ally with a melee attack within 10 feet of you, as a reaction, you can spend 4 ki points to get within melee range of the target and take two unarmed strikes against them in retribution as if it were a normal attack role. This uses up your reaction for this round and if your are stunned, paralyzed, grappled, or restrained you cannot use this ability.

Guardian Empowerment

You have mastered the Way Of The Guarded Fists and it's techniques, and have now unlocked your body and mind's full potential. As an action, you can spend 5 ki points to manifest an exoskeleton made out of pure physical spiritual energy to surround and protect your body for 10 minutes. This effect ends early if you are incapacitated or die, but cannot be dispelled by any magic. (You can only use this ability once per long rest)

When this effect is active, you gain the following benefits.

 

 Guardian Strength: 

-You gain a +3 bonus to your armor class.

-You also gain 30 extra temporary hit points.

 

Guardian Agility: 

-While in this form, you are immune to fall damage.

-When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage and can teleport 15 ft to an empty space that you can see if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.

 

Guardian Soul:

-While in this form, you are immune to being charmed, frightened, or controlled by other magical means.

-If you are being stunned, paralyzed, grappled or restrained before activating Guardian Empowerment, you are freed from these effects when it is activated.

 

Guardian Force:

-Whenever you use the extra attack feature to attack twice, you can instead attack three times having the third attack do extra elemental damage of your choosing.
