Base Class: Cleric
A spirit domain cleric is a guardian of all spirits and will sacrifice their own vitality to ensure others are unharmed. They will always expect to be re-payed however, even from beyond the grave. They spend their lives seeking out the spirits of both the living and the dead and make sure they are able to move on safely to whatever awaits them beyond the grave. Of course, if it is not yet their time, the spirit domain cleric will make it their duty to keep them bound the life, going as far as forcing them back to an existence they may be unwilling to return to.
Kindred Spirits
At first level, when an ally within 30ft takes damage you may use your reaction to half the damage they take. You then take the other half of the damage. You can perform this feature a number of times equal to your Cleric level per long rest.
Channel Divinity - Spirit Sense
From 2nd level, when you use Spirit Sense for your channel divinity you are able to sense nearby living creatures. As an action, you can detect if there are any living creatures (ignores undead) in an 120ft radius. You know the rough location of any such creatures. You can maintain this effect for 1 round (6s). You can see invisible creatures with this effect but not those shielded from divination magic.
Recently Departed
At 6th Level, you become able to sense the spirits of the recently departed warning you of potential danger. Whenever you pass with 60ft of the location where a creature has died in the past hour, you are alerted to this fact. Spirits of the dead may also attempt to communicate (at the DMs discretion) whispering a single word which only you can hear. The exact nature of this word is up to the creature/DM and may help or hinder you depending on any past relationship with the creature or it's alignment.
Spirit Charm
At 8th Level, when attempting to raise the dead, or perform any action that requires a willing soul, you can force the creature who's soul is in question, to roll a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure you can force the soul to comply. You can perform this action once per long rest.
Improved Sense
At 17th level, you gain the following additional benefits when using your Spirit Sense:
You are able to detect the relative strengths of any creature in the radius.Your DM will tell you whether each creature is Weak,Average or Strong.
Weak: CR/lvl 0-1
Average: CR/lvl 2-10
Strong: CR/lvl 11+
If a creature has no CR or level then the DM must decide how the creature appears.
You are also able to detect if any creatures are 'injured' (Below half their maximum hit points)
An example statement from the DM is:
You sense 3 weak creatures in the room ahead. One of them is injured.

As a spirit domain cleric you gain the following domain spells at the stated levels:
1st Level: Alarm, False Life
3rd Level: Ray of Enfeeblement, Spiritual weapon
5th Level: Speak with Dead, Spirit Guardians
7th Level: Locate creature, Arcane eye
9th Level: Raise dead, Scrying
