Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Pyrotechnics are masters of grand displays of fire and smoke, embellishing their own performances with exciting and flashy exhibitions. Whether it be a grand performance in front of a crowd of hundreds, or small gathering of comrades around a campfire, if bards of this college want to put on a show, then they want that show to be as big and flashy as possible.

Bards of this college are flashy performers. Fire dances off the strings of their lutes and billows from the bells of their horns. Fire dancers and fire swallowers often make their home in this college as well.

Bard Level Feature
3rd Kindler Tricks, Pyrotechnics Expert
6th Experienced Firestarter, Grand Finale
14th Explosive Endurance

Kindler Tricks

When you join the College of Pyrotechnics at 3rd level, you learn a handful of small magical techniques to produce fire, all the better for your performances. You learn the control flames, create bonfire, and produce flame cantrips, which don't count against the number of bard cantrips you know.

Pyrotechnics Expert

At 3rd level, you have a talent with fiery dramatics. You add the pyrotechnics spell to your spell list if it is not there already. You can cast the pyrotechnics spell a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus with this trait without expending a spell slot, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.

Whenever you use the pyrotechnics spell, it has additional benefits:

  • You do not require an area of nonmagical flame in order to cast the spell.
  • You gain a third option in addition to Fireworks and Smoke: Ignition. The target detonates with a dramatic burst of flame, causing every creature within 5 feet of the target to make a Dexterity saving throw. A damaged creature takes fire damage equal to three rolls of your Bardic Inspiration die on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Experienced Firestarter

Starting at 6th level, you are better versed with fiery spells for use in your grand theatrics and exciting displays. The fire bolt, burning hands, hellish rebuke, flame blade, scorching ray, and fireball spells are added to the list of bard spells you can learn. Additionally, you may learn one spell from these five. This does not count against your number of spells known.

Grand Finale

At 6th level, when you inspire a creature with your last use of Bardic Inspiration, that creature can treat its inspiration die roll as if it had rolled its maximum value.

Explosive Endurance

At 14th level, your proximity to performative explosions and detonations has allowed you to withstand the more harmful effects of explosive blasts. You gain resistance to fire and thunder damage.
