Base Class: Paladin
Boasting unmatched resilience, Paladins that swear the Oath of the Lionheart pledge to shape their bodies into an unstoppable force against even the sturdiest of foes.
The tenets of the Nemean Lion are as follows:
Guardianship. A shield does not worry for its own safety. Defend where you are needed.
Unceasing Strength. A relentless river can wear down even the mightiest of mountains; you, too, shall face your foes without relenting.
Pushing Through. Being an invincible target will force foes to devote attention to you, leaving openings for others to exploit. But an opening in the armor does nothing without an arrow to fill it.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.
See the feat "DNDBeyond Won't Let Me Have Illegal Spell Lists," as usual.
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | compelled duel, heroism |
| 5 | magic weapon, Maximillian’s earthen grasp |
| 9 | fear, protection from energy |
| 13 | aura of purity, stoneskin |
| 17 | Bigby’s hand, contagion |
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Emboldening Smite Immediately after you deal damage to a creature with your Divine Smite feature, you can use your Channel Divinity as a bonus action to let loose a mighty roar, empowering you allies to strike with greater force. Creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you add a 1d4 bonus to their attack and damage rolls until the start of your next turn.
Impervious Hide. You can momentarily take on the Nemean Lion’s mythical endurance, shrugging off even the mightiest of blows. When you would take bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage, you can expend your Channel Divinity as a reaction to reduce the damage taken to 0.
Aura of Might
At 7th level, you gain the ability to infuse others with your divine might. Whenever a creature within 10 feet of yourself hits a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one spell slot to deal radiant damage to the target, in addition to the weapon’s damage. The extra damage is 2d8 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d8 for each spell level higher than 1st, to a maximum of 5d8. The damage increases by 1d8 if the target is an undead or a fiend, to a maximum of 6d8.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Steel Heart Surge
At 15th level, the blood that flows through your veins takes on the resilience of steel. As a bonus action, you can end one of the following effects on yourself:
-
One level of exhaustion on yourself
-
One effect that blinded, charmed, deafened, paralyzed, petrified, or poisoned you
-
One curse, including your attunement to a cursed magic item
-
Any reduction to one of your ability scores
-
One effect reducing your hit point maximum
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
Lion's Pride
At 20th level, you embody the unbreakable pride of the lion. As an action, you can gain the following benefits for 1 minute:
- Your movement speed is doubled.
- You are immune to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
- The first time during this duration you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, it must make a Strength saving throw or be stunned until the start of your next turn.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
