Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Some spellcasters focus solely on their magic, fully depending on it for offensive purposes and protection. However, a certain few know better. The Spellweaver's understand that spells can only protect you so much. You'll have all your magic for the first fight, perhaps even the second one as well, but what of the third? Your adversaries will not wait for you to catch your breath and wasting a limited supply of magic on both defensive and offensive spells constantly will leave you helpless in battles of attrition.

This is where the spellweaver shines, utilizing arms and armor infused with their magic to aid them in combat. The spellweaver is ready for battle at all times and has the grit to prove it. However, just because they use physical armaments doesn't mean they are any less clever than their more magically focused counterparts. These rare few wizards are masters of weaving their power into their weapons of choice, employing such tricks as changing their weapon's damage type, momentarily enhancing its raw power, and even regaining lost magic through well placed strikes.

Many novice wizards mock spellweavers, claiming them to be paranoid, or simply too weak to end fights quickly. "That's why you fight with others", they'll say, but ask any old wizard and they will understand the reasons behind the spellweaver's methods; and when the day comes that you find yourself in battle, tired and no longer surrounded by allies, you will too.

Arcane Armory

2nd-level Spellweaver feature

You gain proficiency with light armor, shields, and simple and martial weapons. Additionally, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can use Intelligence instead of Dexterity when determining your armor class.
  • Your hit point maximum increases by 2, and further increases by 1 whenever you gain a level in this class.

Spellbound Weapon

2nd-level Spellweaver feature

Starting at 2nd level, you learn to weave your magic into your chosen weapon, granting it various enhancements.

During a short or long rest, you can choose one weapon you are proficient with to be your spellbound weapon. That weapon gains the following benefits while you wield it:

  • If it is on the same plane of existence as you, you can summon your spellbound weapon as an action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.
  • You can use your spellbound weapon as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells and can use Intelligence instead of Strength or Dexterity for your attack and damage rolls with it.
  • During a short rest or long rest, you can choose for this weapon to deal acid, cold, fire, poison, lightning, or thunder damage damage on a hit instead of its normal damage type. You can return the weapon to its normal damage type as an action.

You cannot have more than one spellbound weapon at a time.

Extra Attack

6th-level Spellweaver feature

You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, you can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.

Imbuement

10th-level Spellweaver feature

You learn to further imbue your spellbound weapon with magic.

As a bonus action, you can spend a spell slot to further enhance your spellbound weapon's damage. The next successful attack you make with your spellbound weapon this turn deals additional force damage equal to 10 times the spell slot’s level. If you spend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the next attack you make with your spellbound weapon this turn gains advantage.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down), and you regain all uses after finishing a long rest.

Arcane Soul

14th-level Spellweaver feature

At 14th level, your fighting spirit bends the arcane weave to your will. When you land a critical hit with your spellbound weapon, you can immediately regain one or more spell slots with a combined level that is equal to or less than a quarter of your wizard level (rounded up), similar to the Arcane Recovery feature.

Additionally, your spell attack and damage rolls gain a bonus equal to any magic bonus your spellbound weapon has.
