"All who wander the mist are lost... but not all remain that way."

- Unknown

Mistwalker

Starting at 3rd level, you have learned to let the mist inside you suffuse and transform your body, allowing you to take the form of a cloud of mist temporarily. As an action, you may cast the Gaseous Form spell on yourself without spending a spell slot, with the following alterations:

  • The spell ends if concentration is dropped, or after 1 minute.
  • You may make Strength and Dexterity checks at advantage in spite of the spell's limitations (grapples included), as formless hands appear to complete the task.
  • You do not benefit from nonmagical resistance to piercing, slashing or bludgeoning damage.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

Obfuscate

The mist has a supernatural ability to make people confused and forget their intentions. When a creature within 5 feet of you makes a melee attack against you, you can use your reaction to exhale a cloud of mist into their face. The attacking creature must make a Wisdom save, the DC equals 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Wisdom Modifier. If they fail, they must make a new melee attack against another target within 5 feet of them. If there is no other target within range, their Attack fails and they forget why they were attacking in the first place.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses after a short or long rest.

Mind Unclouded

Your connection to the supernatural traits of the mist deepens, and your mind becomes stronger against being confused and lost. At 9th level, you gain advantage on all Wisdom saves. In addition, you are immune to becoming lost and gain the Labyrinthine Recall feature.

Labyrinthine Recall

You can perfectly recall any path you have traveled.

Illusion of Pain

You've learned to manipulate the Mist to create illusions that cross the boundary of what's real and what isn't. When you take the Attack action, you can make an illusory double of yourself out of Mist in an empty space 5 feet from you and have it attack a secondary target (this can be the same target as your attack). The double has your same equipment, so can make any weapon attack you would be able to. If the attack succeeds, you can apply half the number of Sneak Attack die for your level (rounded up) to the attack, but all the damage is dealt as Psychic damage. The double vanishes immediately after it hits or misses its target, and it leaves no mark on its target if it deals damage.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses after a short or long rest.

Dread Mists

In higher concentrations, the Mists of the Domains of Dread serve as extensions for the Dark Powers to exert their will. At 17th level you have practiced enough to open a portal to the barrier surrounding the Domains of Dread in order to allow some of the Mist to fill a space on the field. As an action, choose a point you can see within 120 feet. For 1 minute, a cylinder with a radius of 30 feet, and a height of 60 feet fills with Dread Mist centered on that point.

When the Mist appears, and when any creature enters the Mist's area for the first time on its turn, or ends its turn there, any creature other than you and a number of targets of your choice up to your proficiency bonus are subject to the following effects:

  • The creature must make a Constitution saving throw or gain 1 level of exhaustion. This exhaustion cannot be removed while the creature remains in the mist. The DC is equal to 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Wisdom Modifier.
  • Once per turn, if a creature inside the Mist tries to leave it, it must first make a Wisdom saving throw. If it fails, the creature is teleported to an empty space on the ground nearest to the center of the cylinder and its speed becomes 0 until the end of its turn as it is lost in the Mist. The creature then has advantage against this effect on its next turn. The DC is equal to 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Wisdom Modifier.
  • The Mist spreads around corners and its area is Heavily Obscured.

Once you have used this ability, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
