Base Class: Wizard
Wizards who specialize in the study of 3-Dimensional space can take control of those fundamental laws and bend them to the master's will. They learn that space is a trick of the mind. There is little difference between here and there except a perceptual reality created by the mind of the observer(s) to create separation and individuality through Dimension. Taking control of space (or perceptual reality) is simply a matter of understanding Dimension's existence as a mind-construct.
Students start by measuring things. They will measure everything until they cannot stand to do it again. They should begin to see that the measurements are minutiae and irrelevant. They learn that the relationships between the measurements have patterns and create structure like geometry. That geometry is the foundation of Dimension. Using magic these wizards manipulate the mind construct of Dimension to alter positions and relations in 3-dimensional space with more ease than other casters. They usually prefer spells that increase speed, mobility and freedom of movement for themselves; and any spell that manipulates 3-dimensional, extra-dimensional, or extra-planar spaces.
Expert specialists prefer to stay moving and can do so uncannily. Their abilities work best when they are mobile and not encumbered. They like to travel light and often. They are really hard to locate or pin down. If they do settle for any length of time they will explore every nook and cranny in an ever-expanding outward spiral. Many never settle and continue to travel their entire existence.
Mobility is Fundamental
2nd-Level Dimensionalist Feature
Beginning practitioners become adept at moving about and avoiding capture. The specialists' speed increases by 10' and this ability will stack with other movement modifiers. They can use Dash as a bonus action and they enjoy advantage on any roll to avoid being captured, grappled, snared, caged or held in place by any means.
Range is Relative
6th-Level Dimensionalist Feature
Intermediate dimensionalists learn that space is a construct of the mind. They envision space as a malleable plasmoid of mental energy; so much so, that they can easily manipulate distances between two points. Ranges for all ranged attacks (magical, mechanical, or thrown) and spells are doubled and they ignore Half Cover and Three-Quarters Cover. As a Bonus Action the dimensionalist can also grant "Touch" spells a range of 30'. This can be done a number of times equal to the dimensionalists' Proficiency Bonus. A long rest will restore these uses. These abilities do not stack with the Spell Sniper feat or with the Distant Spell metamagic.
Blurred Image
10th-Level Dimensionalist Feature
As the specialists' understanding of Dimension comes into sharper focus, their projected image in that reality becomes more unfocused. Starting at 10th level their image begins to blur as if they were wearing a Cloak Of Displacement. All attacks made against them are at disadvantage. An attacker is immune to this effect if it doesn't rely on sight, as with Blindsight, or can see through illusions, as with Truesight. If the dimensionalist takes damage, the ability is suppressed until the start of their next turn. It also does not work while they are Incapacitated, Restrained, or otherwise unable to move.
Warped Reality
14th-Level Dimensionalist Feature
The master dimensionalist is no longer bound by conventional ideas of space. Existence at any point is a matter of perception. Changing that perception changes the point of existence. Specialists at this level can teleport as an action to anywhere within 60' and in line of sight. They can do this as a bonus action a number of times equal to the Proficiency Bonus. These uses are restored on a long rest.
