Base Class: Fighter
“ Your old heart is no more, a hateful one. We have exchanged it for one aligned with our ideals, deafened to the chaos of the Song. You are Silent now, hateful one. ” ― The Dreadstar
A subclass that specializes in bringing out a fighter’s extraordinary fighting technique, using one’s blade as you pursue your own path of true strength, no matter the cost.
Rejection
3rd-level Silent Heart feature
Upon severing your ties with the world around you, you begin your path of a songless world. You gain red veins that course throughout your torso and over your arms, your eyes become naturally much duller, and you take on a more silent persona. However, this also allows you to bring out more of your strength, without any distractions before you. You add your proficiency bonus to damage rolls and reduce all spell damage received by double your proficiency bonus. Additionally, you gain access to a unique skill known as “tempo”, which allows you to vent out of attacks.
Your “tempo” can be recorded through points. You may call these Tempo Points. You start with 0 points and can have a maximum of 12 points at any given time. You receive a tempo point for every attack roll you successfully land or any attack rolls that successfully land on yourself by another person. If you take damage for a spell, you gain tempo points equal to half the spell slot they used, rounded down. As a reaction when an melee attack is directed towards you, you may expend 4 tempo points and let out a burst of force, giving them disadvantage on the attack roll. If they already have disadvantage, they instead reduce their attack roll equal to your dexterity or strength modifier. If they miss the attack roll after this, they are knocked back 10 feet. At the end of each of your turns, you lose 1 tempo point.
Merciless Blade
3rd-level Silent Heart feature
When you kill a creature, you regain (1d4 + strength or dexterity modifier) hit points, as the rush and feeling of ending the life of another creature with your own strength allows you to catch your breath and continue fighting.
Dread Fighter
7th-level Silent Heart feature
Every time you successfully land a critical hit, dodge with tempo, or land 2 more attack rolls against a creature, you manifest a red halo around your head as you gain a Dread stack. Upon striking a creature, you may inflict them with Dread by expanding your Dread Stack. This reduces their concentration check equal to the amount of Dread Stacks you use multiplied by 2 or deal 1d4 additional necrotic damage for every Dread Stack used. Additionally, as a reaction, you may attack a creature casting a spell within 5ft of yourself by expending a Dread stack.
Severing Strike
10th-level Silent Heart feature
As a bonus action while landing an attack against a creature, you can expend 3 Dread Stacks to temporarily silence the creature. They cannot cast spells with verbal requirements. This effect ends at the start of their next turn.
Alternatively, you can instead use an action to make a large circular swing. All creatures within 15 feet of yourself must succeed a constitution saving throw against you or take 8d8 slashing damage and gain the Dreadful effect. Creatures with this special effect reduce their movement speed by half and their climbing speed to 0. This feature lasts for one minute. If they succeed the save, they only take half the damage and aren’t affected by Dreadful.
True Vantage
15th-level Silent Heart feature
After successfully using your Vent feature, you become invisible and your movement speed increases by 15 feet. This effect ends at the start of your next turn.
Mani Katta
18th-level Silent Heart feature
As an action, you can spend 7 Dread Stacks, entering a state of complete focus. You call forth the strength you call your own. Your marks gleam crimson as you envision a red flowing string directed towards a creature of your choice. The world seemingly halts in your presence as you suddenly vanish and appear within 5ft of your target in an unoccupied space. You become almost invisible while this happens with your blazing speed. You make an amount of attacks against a creature equal to your dexterity modifier with advantage. During this moment, your blade reflects your inner strength, becoming true. This damage ignores all immunities and resistances. At the end of this feature, you gain 1 level of exhaustion.
