Base Class: Blood Hunter (archived)
While most blood hunters focus on the physical form of a creature the Order of the Remnant draw energy from the soul. Those who join this order are masters of the soul, both theirs and others, they have the ability to separate their soul from their body or take in the souls of others and use them for their own good.
Rite of the Soul
When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the esoteric rite Rite of the Soul (detailed below).
Rite of the Soul. Your rite damage is radiant type. The damage you suffer from activating this rite is halved.
For 1 hour after you hit a creature with your rite of the soul it takes 1d6+your wisdom modifier damage each round (or minute if out of combat) only one creature can have this effect at a time and you can pick if the effect transfers or not.
Upon reaching 11th level, this effect increases to 1d12.
Remnant
Once you join the order of the remnant you gain the ability to take the soul of creatures you kill and use its abilities and some of its ability scores instead of your own. You can try to take the remnant of a living creature rendering it a soulless husk, in order to do this you and the creature make a wisdom check if you succeed you take a remnant of the creature(you can only use this ability on certain creatures and it's the DMs decision as to which ones you can take). As a bonus action you can use your remnant adding it's health on to your own and replacing any of your ability scores with it's higher ones. Once you gain this ability you can take a remnant of any creature with a challenge rating of 1 as well as 3 slots for other remnants which increases to 5 at 6th level and 10 at 15th.
Blooded soul
Beginning at 7th level, you learn to focus on the soul of a creature. Your blood curses can now affect any creature, regardless of their form or lack of blood.
In addition, when you amplify a use of your Blood Maledict feature, after rolling the amplify damage you would sustain, you may choose to reroll the die and must use the new roll.
Soul Surge
Upon reaching 11th level, you’ve learned to briefly step into the spirit world, enabling a swift and deadly strike. When you use the Attack action on your turn, you can expend a use of this feature to attack three times, instead of twice, and you temporarily become spectral. Until the end of your next turn, you can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. You take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside an object. If you are inside an object when you are no longer spectral, you are immediately shunted to the nearest unoccupied space that you can occupy and take force damage equal to twice the number of feet you moved. You may expend a use of this feature as a bonus action instead of making an attack.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Soulvision
At 15th level, you can see through magical darkness up to 30 feet, as well as see invisible creatures and objects up to 30 feet. You can also see into the ethereal plane.
Independent Spirit
Upon reaching 18th level, you learn to project your spirit to fight alongside your physical form. As a bonus action during your turn you can separate your soul from your body and control them both and take a turns worth of actions with each one on your turn. Your spirit form has your physical attributes and armor class, as well as your weapons and ammunition, and can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. This form is immune to cold, necrotic, and non-magical weapon damage. Your spirit form has access to all of your abilities and suffers no damage from your Crimson Rite feature.
Unwilling Sacrifice
When you die you can expend any remnant in you except your starting one to allow your soul to stay in your body. During your next long rest if you succeed a dc 15+the challenge rating of the remnant(min20) wisdom check you can draw the remnant back into your body. You retain all knowledge you gleaned from the remnant after it leaves.

Posted Jul 9, 2019Just curious in terms of remnants, can you have only one active remnant at a time, with a total of 3 in storage? And if you use a remnant, how long does it last? Does the challenge level for remnants ever increase? And if you interchange remnants, does the one used before being replaced get discarded or put back into storage? Also is it only challenge level one creatures or can it be lower challenge levels too?
