Base Class: Wizard
The School of Lore focuses on gaining knowledge in order to improve a wizard's function in both battle and day to day life. Wizards who specialize in this school focus on learning skills and bits of lore other wizards deem irrelevant to their trade. They believe that by doing this they gain an advantage in flexibility both on and off the field of battle.
Cutting Words
At second level, you learn how to use your wit to distract, confuse, and otherwise sap the confidence and competence of others. You gain d8s equal to half your int modifier rounded down. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can expend one of these die and subtract the number rolled from the creature's roll. You may use this after the creature rolls, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before the creature deals it's damage. The creature is immune if it can't hear you or if it's immune to being charmed.
Bonus Proficencies
At second level School of Lore wizards gain proficiency with two skills, and expertise in 1 they already have proficiency in.
Additional Magical secrets
At 6th level, you learn two spells of your choice from any class. A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Wizard table, or a cantrip. The chosen spells count as wizard spells for you but don't count against the number of wizard spells you know.
Peerless Skill
At 14th level, you are granted d12s equal to your int modifier rounded down. You can add these to any ability check you make. You can choose to do so after you roll the die for the check, but before the DM tells you whether you succeed or fail.
Spell Lore
At tenth level your knowledge of lore has enhanced your understanding of the nature of spells. You may change the ability check on a spell a number of times per day equal to half of your Int modifier rounded down. You may only affect the first round of rolls a creature makes, if the spell requires additional rolls to be made on subsequent rounds, the original ability stated in the spell is used.
