Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Introducing the Spellslinger, a Fighter subclass that merges martial prowess with the mystical arts. These skilled warriors have devoted themselves to the study of both combat techniques and spellcasting, seamlessly blending the two into a formidable fighting style. With their innate ability to cast cantrips proficiently, Arcane Blades channel arcane energy through their weapons, enhancing their strikes with elemental or magical effects.

These versatile fighters wield their cantrips to devastating effect, manifesting them as swirling flames, crackling bolts of lightning, or ethereal blades that accompany their weapon strikes. Their spells serve as an extension of their martial skills, allowing them to adapt to any situation on the battlefield. Whether they need to blast through armored foes, manipulate the environment, or shield themselves from harm, Spellslinger have an array of cantrips at their disposal.

Mage Loadout

3rd-level Spellslinger feature
You gain proficiency in the Arcana skill and your choice of jeweler's tools or woodcarver's tools. You also learn four cantrips of your choice from any spell list. At 7th, 10th, 15th, and 18th level, you learn an additional cantrip of your choice. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of these cantrip with another from any spell list

Spellslinging

Any cantrip you cast can use Dexterity as its spellcasting ability. At 18th level, any spell you cast can gain this benefit.

Additionally, you treat an arcane focus as a simple ranged weapon with the Special property.

Special. In place of any weapon attack made with the item, you can cast a cantrip with the following changes, so long as the weapon attack was not made as a part of another spell:

  • The spell is also considered a weapon attack made using the item for the purpose of any features from your class, race, or other sources.
  • The spell is cast as if you are a 1st level character, gaining no benefits even if you have reached 5th level or higher.
  • The spellcasting ability modifier + half your proficiency bonus is added to one damage roll of the spell that doesn't already add an ability modifier.

Esoteric Implements

7th-level Spellslinger feature
You ignore the class requirements of arcane foci you attempt to attune to and spell scrolls you attempt to read.

Sage

You can use the spell attack bonus and spell save DC from any of your spellcasting abilities in place of any attack bonus or DC provided by a magic item you use.

Scholar

During a long rest, you can spend 1 hour to replace one cantrip you know from your Mage Loadout with another cantrip from a spell scroll you can read.

Spellblade

You can treat any weapon as an arcane focus. Moreover, any arcane focus you're using benefits from its Special property even when not used as a ranged weapon.

Arcane Resistance

10th-level Spellslinger feature

While holding an arcane focus, you add your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1) to saving throws you make against spells. Moreover, the cantrips you cast ignore effects similar to the spells Antimagic Field and Dispel Magic.

Piercing Incantation

15th-level Spellslinger feature

As an action, choose a cantrip you know and a point you can see within 60 feet of you. In a 10-foot wide line between you and the point, you can cast the chosen cantrip as a part of your Spellslinging against each creature in the area as if it is the target of or included in the area of effect of the spell.

Toolcaster

18th-level Spellslinger feature
If you use a magic item to cast a 1st-level spell, the item can ignore any changes it gains upon use—such as crumbling to dust or having its charges reduced. Hit points restored by the effects of a spell cast in this way can only raise a creature's current hit points to a maximum of 1.
