Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Your innate magic comes from draconic magic that was mingled with your blood or that of your ancestors. Most often, sorcerers with this origin trace their descent back to a mighty sorcerer of ancient times who made a bargain with a dragon or who might even have claimed a dragon parent. Some of these bloodlines are well established in the world, but most are obscure. Any given sorcerer could be the first of a new bloodline, as a result of a pact or some other exceptional circumstance.

Draconic Ancestry

At 1st level, choose an option from the Draconic Ancestry table. You gain resistance to the damage type associated with your Draconic Ancestry, and other functions of your Sorcerous Origin will benefit from the option you choose.

Draconic Resilience

As magic flows through your body, it causes physical traits of your dragon ancestors to emerge. At 1st level, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class.

Additionally, parts of your skin are covered by a thin sheen of dragon-like scales. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Dexterity modifier.

Elemental Affinity

Whenever you cast a damaging spell of 1st level or higher, you can spend sorcery points to change the damage type of the spell you cast to that of your Draconic Ancestry. When you do, you may increase the damage of one roll of the spell by 1d6 per sorcery point spent. You may spend a maximum number of points this way equal to your proficiency bonus. You cannot use any metamagic options on a spell altered in this manner, unless that metamagic is Empowered or Seeking Spell.

Death From Above

At 14th level, you gain the ability to manifest wings of your own, matching those of your heritage. You can summon or dismiss these wings as a bonus action, granting you a flying speed of 60 feet. You cannot use these wings while wearing medium or heavy armor, and the clothes or armor you are currently wearing must be able to accommodate these wings (such as cutting holes in the back of a shirt).

While these wings are present, you have advantage on Charisma checks made to interact with dragons or creatures with the Dragon type. Additionally, you suffer none of the drawbacks of old age, cannot be magically aged, and your life span increases by 1000 years.

Draconic Presence

At 18th level, your connection to your draconic heritage is able to manifest at a superphysical level. You gain immunity to the damage type associated with your Draconic Ancestry. Additionally, as an action on your turn, you can spend 10 sorcery points to assume a draconic form for 1 minute, or until you end it as a bonus action. It ends early if you die. When you assume this form, you gain the following benefits:

  • You grow to size Huge, and your creature type changes to Dragon.
  • Immediately after you assume your new form, each creature of your choice within 60 feet of you that is aware of you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
  • You gain temporary Hit Points equal to 5 times your Constitution modifier (minimum of 5).
  • You have blindsight with a range of 30 feet. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn’t behind total cover, even if you’re blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature, unless the creature successfully hides from you.
  • When you activate this effect, and as an action on subsequent turns, you may exhale destructive energy in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 6d8 damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The damage type matches your Draconic Ancestry.
  • Your wings from Death From Above are summoned and cannot be dismissed until this transformation ends.
  • Twice, while this transformation is active, when you fail on a saving throw, you can choose to succeed instead.
