Watching without seeing
When you choose this subclass at 1st level, one of your eyes is taken as forfeit and you go blind in that eye. The eye looks different depending on who your patron is, work with your DM to decide what this looks like.
- You can use this eye as a spell focus
- You gain a bonus to your perception modifier equal to your charisma modifier.
- You gain the Unblinded gaze cantrip.
- You gain the Death Sight feature
Death Sight
As an bonus action you can spend 1 corruption points to look into a creatures fortitude.
Choose a number of creatures you can see within range up to your charisma modifier (minimum of 1), until the end of your next turn you can see small glowing orbs inside each creature. Each orb is unable to be seen by everybody else and each orb changes colour depending on how healthy the target is. A dark green indicates that the creature is above 50% HP, a dark blue indicates 25-50% and a bright white light indicates it is below 25%.
Corruption of the Overtaken
Your pact with your patron has corrupted your visions and your mind. This corruption starts from your eye that has been taken and spreads through the body. You gain 5 corruption points.
- You lose a point of corruption every week
- You can have up to 7 stored corruption points
- You gain more points if you kill or incapacitate creatures with spells of first level or higher depending on the size of the creature.
- Medium: 2 kills = 1 point
- Large: 1 kill = 2 points
- Huge: 1 kill = 4 points
- Gargantuan: 1 kill = 7 points
- You also gain a corruption point for a successful usage of the Unblinded gaze cantrip.
- You can use these corruption points to empower and amplify your spells above their normal amounts.
When you hit 0 corruption points you become Overtaken, this effects lasts if you lose your temporary hit points, fall unconscious or you are in the form for 10 minutes. Whilst Overtaken you gain the following features:
Corrupted fortitude: You gain temporary hit-points equal to two times your warlock level plus your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) as the force of your corruption enhances you.
Beyond human: You become a demon as the corruption takes over your natural instincts giving your new improved body resistance to fire, lightening, cold and non-magical weapons. You can also use Charisma instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes. When you use the attack action with an unarmed strike, you can make another unarmed strike as a bonus action. Your unarmed strikes deal 1d6 slashing damage. This die increases to 1d8 at 11th level, and 1d10 at 18th level.
Powers Consequence: You lose control of your character whilst in this form, give your character sheet to the DM who has control and directs your character to kill everyone around it, this is done with the intelligence of the patron who might focus on healers or other individuals who are weaker or injured. The exact decisions of what your character does whilst controlled in this manner are determined by who your patron is, however it is unable to cast spells of first level or higher but can use cantrips.
Hazed mind: When you leave this state you gain 1 exhaustion point as the sheer power of the patron controlling you drains you. You also gain back corruption points equal to 2+ the amount and the size of the creatures slain in this state (refer to the list above.)
Eyes that Follow
At 6th level you gain the ability to dismiss lesser magic effecting your vision and instead ignore it completely.
You gain immunity to illusions that are cast at a level equal to or lower than your highest spell level.
Instead you see the illusion as a strange blur that is more prominent the higher level the illusion is.
You can spend 2 corruption points to see gain insight into what sort of magic the caster is capable of and in doing so, you see what the spell casting ability of the illusion caster is.
Extend vison
At 10th level you gain the ability to see past normal sight. You can extend the influence from your patron to detect the movements of those around you even through walls and darkness.
As an action you can go past vision and gain blindsight up to 60ft.
The effect lasts as long as you are concentrating on it like you are concentrating on a spell.
This effect lasts 10minutes and can be done an amount of times equal to your charisma modifier (minimum of 1)
You can end this effect early as an bonus action.
You can spend 1 corruption point as a reaction to gain advantage on maintaining this effect.
Controlled Chaos
At 14th level the constant fight for power inside your head has awakened inside you an element of control you never had before.
You gain the ability to, as an action, become Overtaken. This gains you all the features available to you from being Overtaken but you have control over your actions inside this ability.
When this effect has ended, either by losing temporary hit-points or taking the full 10 minutes, make a wisdom save with a DC equal to your spell-casting DC +2. You can gain advantage on this by spending 2 corruption points. If you succeed then the effect ends as normal, still taking a point of exhaustion in the process, if you fail the save then the effect continues but you are now controlled by the DM and the effect only ends when they are brought to 0 hit points.
