Base Class: Monk

Equipped with their customized firearms and clad in flowing robes, these monks posses an air of mystique and lethal grace. Their combat style seamlessly blends acrobatic movements with precise marksmanship, allowing them to unleash a storm of bullets while gracefully evading their opponents' attacks.

Path of Black Powder

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your special martial arts training leads you to master the use of firearms. This path also includes instruction on how to craft and maintain various blackpowder devices. You gain the following benefits.

Gun to a Knife Fight. You gain proficiency with firearms that lack the two-handed, scatter, explosive, or heavy property. Firearms you are proficient with become Monk weapons for you. Additionaly, you don't suffer disadvantage from using them within 5 feet of a hostile creature.

Gunsmith. You gain proficiency with Tinker's Tools and Smith's Tools. You become versed in using these tools to craft ammunition, repair damaged firearms, or even draft and create new ones (DM's discretion). Some extremely intricate and experimental firearms are only available through crafting.

Quickdraw. You can spend 1 Ki point as a reaction to rolling initiative. You gain advantage on your initiative roll.

Ki-cochet. Whenever you miss an attack roll with a firearm, you can expend 1 Ki point to redirect the attack to a different creatur within 15 feet of the original target. You must make a separate attack roll for the new target.

One With the Gun

At 6th level, you extend your ki into your firearms, granting you the following benefits.

Ki-infused Bullets. Ammunition you craft count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Deft Strike. When you hit a target with a firearm, you can spend 1 ki point to cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.

Explosive Retaliation

Explosive Retaliation: When a hostile creature makes a melee attack against you, you can spend 1 ki point to use your reaction to make an attack against them with your firearm.

Sharpen Focus

At 11th level, you gain the ability to augment your firearms further with your ki. As a bonus action, you can expend up to 3 ki points to grant one firearm you touch a bonus to attack and damage rolls when you attack with it. The bonus equals the number of ki points you spent. This bonus lasts for 1 minute or until you use this feature again. 

Bullet Time

At 17th level, your reflexes have been honed to perfection. As a bonus action, you can enter Bullet Time for 1 minute. When in Bullet time, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can us Deflect Missiles without expending your reaction
  • Your firearms ignore half and three-quarters cover
  • You gain an additional action on each of your turns that must be used to make the attack action with a firearm

Once you've used this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
