Monk
Base Class: Monk

Thunder crackles as the countless bodies of the invaders lay scattered at the doors of the monastery high upon the peaks. The battle was over just as soon as it started. Burn marks and sears run across the bodies and the ground around them as the lone monk centers himself once more. He begins counting the seconds since the last flash of lightning as he watches the next wave of invaders climbed the steps with nothing but hatred and rage in their eyes. The crash of thunder. A flash of light. He begins to count once more.

  • You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier.

Mantle of the Storm

6th-Level Warrior of Lightning Feature

You can channel ki through your limbs to enhance yourself with the power of the storms above. At the start of your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to imbue yourself with the power and speed of lightning. The power lasts for 10 minutes or until you are incapacitated. You gain the following benefits for the duration:

Thunderous Rebuke. When you deal lightning damage or thunder damage with your Unarmed Strike, you can force the target to make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, the target is pushed up to 10 feet away from you.

Flash Step. Your movement speed increases by 10 feet for the duration, and your movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks.

Swirling Currents: When you spend a ki point to use Step of the Wind, you gain the effects of both a Dash and Disengage action and a flying speed equal to your walking speed until the end of your turn.

Lightning Infusion

11th-Level Warrior of Lightning Feature

Starting at 11th level, your ki has been permanently infused with the lightning power of the storm, increasing your reaction time to an inhuman degree. You gain the following benefits:

Lightning Quick. You can take 1 additional reaction on each of your turns. This increases to 2 reactions at 17th level. You can use only one reaction per triggering effect.

Derecho. If you are surprised at the beginning of combat and aren't incapacitated, you can activate Mantle of Storms as a reaction. When you do so, you may act normally on your first turn.

Avatar of Lightning

17th-Level Warrior of Lightning Feature

At 17th level as a bonus action you can spend 4 ki points to activate an enhanced version of the Mantle of Lightning , which lasts for 1 minute or until you choose to end it. Along with the initial benefits of Mantle of the Storm, you also gain the following benefits:

Eye of the Storm. You gain a +2 to AC and a +4 to Dexterity saving throws.

Fulminating Blows. When you spend a ki point to use Flurry of Blows, you may make 3 unarmed attacks as a bonus action instead of 2.

Charged Impact. Each time you deal lightning damage or thunder damage with an unarmed strike,  you can deal extra damage to a target equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die.
