Bard
Base Class: Bard

Members of this college learn to harness the magic of storytelling, infusing their performances with enchantments that bring their narratives to life. They employ melodious intonations, dramatic gestures, and evocative music to paint vivid mental landscapes in the minds of their audience. With their words, they can command attention, evoke emotions, and shape the very fabric of reality.

The bards of the College of Fables study a vast array of tales and legends from different cultures and eras, learning the nuances of storytelling techniques and the symbolism embedded within myths. They delve into forgotten libraries, seek out ancient sages, and travel far and wide in search of new narratives to share.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Fables at 3rd level, you gain Proficiency in history or arcana (expertise if already proficient). You also gain proficiency in scribe's tools

Book of Fables

Also at 3rd level,  you gain an arcane tome, to which you can add spells from the wizard's spell list, in the same ways a wizard would.

Those spells count as bard spells for you, and they must be of a level you can cast in order for you to add them to your Book of Fables. You can add as many spells as you want to the book in this way, and these spells don't count against your number of spells known. Whenever you finish a long rest, you may choose which spells from your Book of Fables you wish to prepare. You can prepare a number of spells equal to your proficiency bonus.

When you gain this subclass at level 3, and again at levels 6 and 14, you may choose a new spell to add to your Book of Fables, according to the previous rules.

If your book is destroyed, you can spend 150 gold pieces in materials and 6 days of downtime in order to craft a new Book of Fables.

Once Upon a Time

At 6th level, whenever you use your Song of Rest feature, you tell a cautionary tale to your companions, in order to prepare them for any dangers you may face.

The effects of this feature last until the next rest, or until otherwise ended. You can also end the effect early on any number of affected creatures as a bonus action on your turn.

In addition to those effects, you may work alongside your DM to create other tales and effects to this feature, in order to better fit your campaign setting.

You can choose any number of creatures affected by your Song of Rest feature to gain one of the following effects:

Little Red Riding Hood

The affected creature gains proficiency in survival and insight checks for the duration of this effect.

When the affected creature would fail a survival or insight check,it may reroll their die, and must use the new roll.

If they choose to do so, this effect then ends on the affected creature

Pinocchio

The affected creature becomes proficient on stealth and deception checks for the duration of this effect.

When the affected creature would fail a stealth or deception check, it may reroll their die, and must use the new roll.

If they choose to do so, this effect then ends on the affected creature.

Sleeping Beauty

If the affected creature has to make a Saving Throw against the charmed, frightened or sleep conditions, the creature may choose to add your proficiency bonus to the result of their roll. If they choose to do so, this effect then ends on the affected creature.

Happily Ever After

Starting at 14th level, When you or any creature you can see within 60 feet of you fails an attack roll, saving throw or ability check, you may as a reaction spend one use of your bardic inspiration to have the chosen creature reroll the check, adding your bardic inspiration die to their roll. The creature must use the new roll.

In addition, you may choose one of the spells in your Book of Fables as a Favorite Tale. You always have that spell prepared, it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare from your Book of Fables, and you can cast it once per long rest without spending a spell slot.
