Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

The sound of thundering hooves and a lingering smell of gunpowder in the air always accompany the mounted, firearm-wielding outlaws. These rogues, sometimes referred to as “gunpowder bandits”, are fearsome marauders who strike fear into the heart of every traveler and penny-pinching merchant making their way through quiet backroads or open plains.

Hair Trigger

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you’re an expert at handling firearms and quick to act at the first sign of trouble. You gain proficiency with firearms and tinker's tools. In addition, when you roll for initiative, you can use your reaction to immediately take one of the following actions:

  • Make one weapon attack with advantage.
  • Move your speed, or your mount's speed, without provoking opportunity attacks.
  • Take the Dodge action.
  • Take the [Tooltip Not Found] action.

Trusty Mount

At 3rd level, you’ve obtained the means to summon a trusty steed to accompany you in your exploits. You learn the Find Steed spell and when you cast it, the creature type of your mount remains beast instead of celestial, fey, or fiend.

You can cast this spell once per long rest.

Rider of Infamy

Also at 3rd level, you know how to exploit a creature’s fear to your advantage. As a bonus action, you can choose a creature that can see and hear you within 30 feet of you. Roll a Charisma (Intimidation) check against the chosen creature’s Wisdom (Insight) check. If you succeed, you can apply your Sneak Attack to any attack you make against the target until the beginning of your next turn, provided you don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll. All other rules for Sneak Attack still apply.

Fast Hands

At 9th level, your muscle memory and quick reflexes allow you to reload your firearms at a rapid pace. You can now use the bonus action granted by your Cunning Action to reload your firearm, or to make a tinker's tools check to repair a damaged firearm.

Mounted Savant

At 13th level, you’re an expert at riding and caring for mounts. You gain the following benefits:

  • You have advantage on all Wisdom (Animal Handling) checks made while interacting with mounts, and on Dexterity saving throws to avoid being knocked off a mount.
  • You can spend 1 minute grooming and caring for your mount. After doing so, your mount gains temporary hit points equal to twice your rogue level.
  • While you are controlling a mount, it can spend a bonus action on its turn to take the Dash, Disengage, or Dodge action.

Desperado

At 17th level, you’re a hardened gunslinger. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to immediately take one of the actions listed in your Hair Trigger feature before you fall unconscious.
