Base Class: Artificer
The Dimensionist is a type of Artificer whose curiosity takes them to planes and dimensions outside of their own. Whether it be to guard the world from extraplanar threats, or to merely explore these otherworldly planes, Dimensionists use their technology to create their own gateways to and from other realms.
Tool Proficiency
3rd-level Dimensionist feature
You gain proficiency with smith’s tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.
Dimensionist Spells
3rd-level Dimensionist feature
You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Dimensionist Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Detect Portal
3rd-level Dimensionist feature
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to magically sense the presence of a planar portal. As an action, you detect the distance and direction to the closest planar portal within 1 mile of you.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
See the "Planar Travel" section in chapter 2 of the Dungeon Master's Guide for examples of planar portals.
Gauntlet of Displacement
3rd-level Dimensionist feature
Beginning at 3rd level, your extensive research has led to the creation of a special magical gauntlet. Using a set of smith’s tools, you can spend one hour to create one of these gauntlets and wear it on your person.
While you have this gauntlet, you can use it to make portals that allow you to transport yourself to other locations, allowing you to use a bonus action to transport yourself up to your movement speed toward any location within your line of sight. While doing so, you do not provoke any attacks of opportunity. Alternatively, you can use this ability to transport one willing creature of your choice within 10 ft of you to any location within any distance equal to your movement speed. When you reach 9th level in this subclass, this range increases to 30 ft. The gauntlet also counts as a spellcasting focus as long as you aren't wielding any weapons in the hand the gauntlet is being worn on.
You can use this ability up to an amount of times equal to your Intelligence modifier, and you recover all uses after a short rest.
Spell Relocation
5th-level Dimensionist feature
At 5th level, you’re able to cast spells through your portals. As a bonus action, you can summon a portal within 60 ft of your line of sight and cast any spell through it as if you were standing at that location. The spell being cast must have a range of touch.
Gauntlet of Gates
9th-level Dimensionist feature
Starting at 9th level, you have far more versatility in your gauntlet’s portals, especially as you’re able to fabricate more portals.
- You can transport up to four willing creatures within 30 ft of you using your Gauntlet of Displacement feature.
- You can use your Gauntlet of Displacement feature on an opposing humanoid or creature within 30 ft of you that is Large or smaller. They must succeed in a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, or be transported anywhere within your gauntlet’s range.
Extraplanar Deracination
15th-level Dimensionist feature
When you reach 15th level, your Gauntlet of Displacement is capable of creating portals to other planes. As an action, you can cast the Plane Shift spell without using material components.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it until 1d4 days have passed.
