Base Class: Fighter

As a Hoplite Sentinel, you become a master of spear and shield combat, specializing in defensive techniques that allow you to protect your allies and control the battlefield. You gain the ability to effectively use your shield both for protection and for tactical advantage, using it to shove foes, push them away, and even deflect attacks. Additionally, your proficiency with spears and javelins becomes enhanced, allowing you to deal more damage when using these weapons. As you progress, you learn to adopt a defensive stance in battle, making it harder for enemies to land successful attacks against you. At higher levels, your mastery over your shield and spear culminates in the ability to create a zone of control around you, making it challenging for enemies to maneuver and granting you an advantage in tight spaces. Finally, your indomitable spirit shines through in your Unyielding Tenacity feature, which allows you to continue fighting even when brought to the brink of defeat. The Hoplite Sentinel is the embodiment of unwavering defense, resilience, and battlefield control, making you a formidable protector and a cornerstone of any adventuring group.

Spear and Shield Mastery

Your mastery of spear and shield combat allows you to deal additional damage with spears or javelins when throwing them or attacking a prone opponent, you gain the attack action known as "Spartan Spear" which deals 2d8+ your strength modifier when using spears or javelins as thrown weapons or against a prone opponent. Additionally, when you take the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to make a shove attack with your shield. If you successfully shove a creature, you can choose to knock them prone or push them up to 10 feet away from you.

Phalanx Formation

Your training as a hoplite allows you to excel in formation-based combat. When you're wielding a shield and a melee weapon, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll made against a creature within 5 feet of you. To use this feature, you must be able to see the attacker and the target must be wielding a weapon other than a ranged weapon.

Spartan Resolve

Your dedication to the ways of the hoplite grants you unparalleled resilience. While you're wearing heavy or medium armor and wielding a shield, you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical attacks.

Phalanx Dominance

Your presence on the battlefield is an inspiration to your allies. Whenever you use your Indomitable feature, one ally within 30 feet of you gains advantage on their next attack roll. Additionally, you can use your Action Surge feature to grant all allies within 30 feet of you an extra action on their next turn. This feature can be used once and recharges after a long rest.

Unyielding Defense

Your mastery of shield techniques reaches its pinnacle. While you're wielding a shield, you can use your reaction to block incoming attacks for yourself or an adjacent ally and increase your AC by 5. Roll a d10 and add your Strength modifier. If the result is equal to or higher than the attack's roll, the attack's damage is negated. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.

Unyielding Tenacity

Your unwavering resolve and tenacity in battle grant you exceptional endurance. When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can choose to fight on. You regain hit points equal to half your hit point maximum, and you can immediately make one melee weapon attack as part of the same reaction. You can use this feature once, and you regain the ability to use it after a long rest.
