Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

The Shieldmaster fighter knows that the best offence is a good defense. Having dedicated herself to the art of defense let's her wield a shield in both hands at once.

Dual Shields

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level you gain the ability to wield a shield in both hands at the same time.

While wielding a shield as a weapon you still gain half the armor the shield would usually apply. The shield also functions as your weapon, scales on Constitution and deals 1d6 damage plus any enchantments it may have.

At level 7 the damage of the weapon shield increases to 1d8

At level 15 the shield grants full armor bonus

Defend ally

At level 7 as a reaction the Shieldmaster can cast the spell Shield on any ally that is being attacked within 30ft of him.

This can be used a number of times equal to his constitution modifier per long rest

Unyielding Defender

At level 10 the Shieldmaster gains damage reduction 5/- so long as she is within 10 ft of an ally.

Shieldwall

At level 15 as an action the Shieldmaster can hunker down and set up a shieldwall. His armor increases by his proficiency bonus, allies within 10ft behind him also gain this armor bonus and count as being behind full cover. While defending in this way you cannot move or attack, doing so immediately lowers the the barrier.

This lasts for 3 turns or until you decide to stop and can be used once per short or long rest.

At level 18 you can use this feature two times before you need to take a short rest.

Total Defense

At level 18 the Shieldmaster has so completely dedicated herself to defending her allies that while wielding two shields she can willingly sacrifice herself to prevent her allies from taking damage.
If an ally within 10 ft is about to take any damage the Shieldmaster can as a reaction dive in front of the attack or spell and choose to take the damage instead. This applies all attacks, spells or effects. Even if this is an area of effect ability the ally does not take any damage or secondary effect from the attack or spell.

You can use this feature equal to your constitution modifier per long rest.
