Bard
Base Class: Bard

Who said bards couldn't pack a punch? Bards from the College of Melody certainly proves that theory wrong. Like most bards, they entertain and thrive through music. Though, they've reached a whole other level in this college. While their music can inspire and entertain, they utilize it in combat just as much. They're skilled in the ways of Martials and what better way than to make use of that with their instruments? These bards are the prime example of why they shouldn't be treated so lightly just because they're bards. While their work is music to some, it can be deadly to other's. Watch which bard you're picking a fight with in your next tavern. They just might be from the College of Melody.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Melody at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor and martial weapons.

Infused Instrument

At 3rd level you can magically infuse a non-magical weapon into an instrument, and can be used as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells. This weapon can use your charisma modifier instead of strength or dexterity as a bonus for attack and damage rolls. You may only have one infusion at a time. You must be proficient in the instrument corresponding to your weapon type.
Weapons- Instrument

  • Crossbow = Lyre
  • Longbow/Shortbow = Harp
  • Blowgun/Dagger = Flute, Pan Flute, Birdpipes, Thelarr
  • Greatsword/Greataxe/Battleaxe = Lute, Yarting
  • Warhammer/Maul/Quarterstaff = Longhorn
  • Flail/Morningstar = Tocken
  • Longsword/Rapier/Scimitar/Shortsword = Viol
  • Greatclub/Club = Drum, Hand Drum
  • Light hammer = Tan Tan

Once Infused, the weapon gains a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. This bonus increases by +2 at the 10th level of this class and +3 at the 15th level. Additionally at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action with the infused weapon on your turn.

Melodic Smite

At 6th level once on your turn, whenever you hit a creature with your Infused Instrument, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration die to deal additional psychic damage equal to a roll of your Bardic inspiration die plus half your bard level (rounded down) to that creature. Additionally, the target is affected by Rhythmic Ring after taking this damage, taking 0 damage is still considered taking damage for this ability. You can instead expend a spell slot to use Melodic Smite dealing psychic damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die. The smite gains another die for every two spell levels above the first level, using Melodic Smite through spells slots doesn't apply Rhythmic Ring.

Rhythmic Ring. The target has a penalty equal to a roll of half your bardic die to all attacks, saving throws and ability checks until the end of the targets next turn.

Melodic Support

At 14th level, after using Melodic Smite a creature of your choice within 10ft of you gets a Bardic Inspiration die without any cost. The creature must be able to hear you to receive this benefit. Additionally you gain the ability to infuse magical weapons into your instrument, in order to do so you must meet all attunement requirements and it doesn’t stack with bonuses from magical weapons, instead the highest bonus takes effect.
