Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

In the realm of warlock pacts, there exists a unique path known as the Pact of Elemental Concord. Those who walk this path have forged an extraordinary bond with elemental forces, drawing upon their raw power to conjure and control the elements themselves. At the heart of this pact is the Elemental Familiar, an otherworldly entity that embodies one of the primal elements: Fire, Water, Earth, or Air.

Elemental Familiar

You forge a pact of elemental concord, gaining the service of an Elemental Familiar. This familiar is an elemental spirit that embodies one of the following elements: Fire, Water, Earth, or Air. Each elemental form grants unique abilities:

  • Fire Elemental Familiar (Pact of the Blade): Your Fire Elemental Familiar can channel its fiery essence into your melee weapon attacks, adding additional fire damage to your strikes. It also grants you resistance to fire damage.

  • Water Elemental Familiar (Pact of the Tome): Your Water Elemental Familiar can assist you in deciphering and learning new spells. It allows you to add additional spells to your Book of Shadows. It also grants you resistance to cold damage.

  • Earth Elemental Familiar (Pact of the Chain): Your Earth Elemental Familiar provides a sturdy and protective presence. It can grant you temporary hit points, and it can use its stony form to create barriers or provide cover. It also grants you resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical weapons.

  • Air Elemental Familiar (Any Pact): Your Air Elemental Familiar grants you increased agility and mobility. It grants you a flying speed equal to your movement speed and the ability to move through difficult terrain without impediment. It also grants you resistance to lightning damage.

Air

Your Air Elemental Familiar grants you increased agility and mobility. It grants you a flying speed equal to half your movement speed and the ability to move through difficult terrain without impediment. It also grants you resistance to lightning damage.

Earth

Your Earth Elemental Familiar provides a sturdy and protective presence. At the end of your turn, your familiar grants you temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus, and it can use its stony form to create barriers or provide cover. It also grants you resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical weapons.

Fire

Your Fire Elemental Familiar can channel its fiery essence into your melee weapon attacks. As a bonus action, the user can add an additional 1d6 fire damage to your strikes. It also grants you resistance to fire damage.

Water

Your Water Elemental Familiar can assist you in deciphering and learning new spells. Instead of having to long rest to learn new spells, it is now a short rest. It also grants you resistance to cold damage.

Resurgence

Your connection to the elemental forces infuses you with vitality when you defeat your enemies. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a spell that deals damage of the type associated with your Elemental Familiar's current form (Fire, Water, Earth, or Air), you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your warlock level (minimum of 1)

Elemental Blast

Your connection with elemental forces enhances your Eldritch Blast cantrip. When you cast Eldritch Blast, you can choose to change the damage type of the beams to match your Elemental Familiar's current form. Additionally, you add your Charisma modifier to the damage of each beam.

Empowered Familiar

At this stage of your pact, your Elemental Familiar undergoes a transformation, becoming even more powerful and versatile. You can choose one of the following upgrades for your familiar:

  • Enhanced Elemental Essence: Your familiar's elemental abilities are further enhanced. For example, a Fire Elemental Familiar's attacks may ignite targets, causing them to take ongoing fire damage, or a Water Elemental Familiar can create larger water barriers and manipulate water in more complex ways.

  • Elemental Resonance: Your familiar can change its elemental form once per short rest, allowing you to adapt to different situations. For example, you can switch from an Air Elemental Familiar's flight to an Earth Elemental's defensive capabilities as needed.

Enchanced Elemental Essence

At 10th level, your Elemental Familiar's connection to its elemental essence deepens, granting it enhanced abilities related to its elemental form.

Air: Your Air Elemental Familiar gives you resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, it can create gusts of wind, granting you an advantage on Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks made to jump, climb, or maintain balance.

Enhanced Elemental Essence

Your Elemental Familiar's connection to its elemental essence deepens, granting it enhanced abilities related to its elemental form.

Fire: Your Fire Elemental Familiar's attacks now deal an additional 3d6 fire damage. 3 times a day, when you hit with a melee attack, the target must also make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be set ablaze, taking 1d6 fire damage at the start of each of its turns. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success

Enhanced Elemental Essence

Your Elemental Familiar's elemental abilities become even more formidable. When you choose this upgrade, your Elemental Familiar gains the following enhancements:

Water: Your Water Elemental Familiar's attacks now have a chance to restrain or slow down enemies they hit. 3 times a day, as a bonus action, when you hit with a spell attack, the target must make a Strength saving throw (DC 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be restrained for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Enhanced Elemental Essence

Your Elemental Familiar's elemental abilities become even more formidable. When you choose this upgrade, your Elemental Familiar gains the following enhancements:

Earth:  Your Earth Elemental Familiar can manipulate its elemental form to provide unique benefits. 3 times a day, as a reaction, it can create a temporary earthen barrier as a reaction when you or an ally within 30 feet are hit by an attack, which gives anyone standing behind it half-cover and +4 to AC. This barrier stays up until the end of your next turn.

Enhanced Elemental Resonance

Your familiar can change its elemental form once per short rest, allowing you to adapt to different situations. For example, you can switch from an Air Elemental Familiar's flight to an Earth Elemental's defensive capabilities as needed.

Elemental Fusion

Your bond with elemental magic culminates in the Elemental Fusion ability. You gain resistance to physical damage, reflecting the resilience of elemental beings.

You can merge temporarily with your Elemental Familiar, becoming an elemental being yourself for a brief yet powerful period. During this fusion, you gain immunity to the elemental damage type associated with your Elemental Familiar's form. You become a creature of pure elemental essence, moving effortlessly through difficult terrain.

Your melee and spellcasting abilities reach their pinnacle. Any spell that correlates to your chosen Elemental familiar deals maximum damage, and so do melee attacks.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
