Base Class: Barbarian
Einheri, army of one; Einherjar, those who fight alone. You walk a reclusive road. Your skill with combat is indisputable -- it ought to be, for when you are not fighting for your patron diety, you are fighting with your fellow Einherjar, training each other, honing each other, so that you may better fight for your God-Chieftain. Your strength comes from your effort, your skill comes from your Brothers-In-Arms, and your calling comes from your God-Chieftain.
Living Dead Devotee
Einherjar are the chosen slain, selected by the winged women of your God-Chieftain, sometimes selected after having died, sometimes selected specifically to die. You are one of the fortunate, honored few, granted a new form of life, elevated. You are beyond what you were, with unbreakable links to what led to making you what you are now.
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the History or Religion skill if you do not already have proficiency, and you may choose to use your Wisdom modifier, rather than your Intelligence modifier, when determining the total of your rolls with the chosen skill. If you already have proficiency in both skills, you may instead choose an additional Barbarian skill and gain proficiency in that skill. If you learn an additional Barbarian skill, it does not use your Wisdom modifier unless it would ordinarily use it.
While raging, you may be targeted by spells and effects which target Undead creatures, in addition to those which target creatures of your original type. You have advantage on saving throws made to resist effects targeting Undead creatures. You do not have advantage on saving throws made to resist effects targeting creatures of your normal type, unless you would ordinarily have advantage.
When you are not raging, you are only considered your original creature type for the purpose of spells and effects, and you do not have advantage on saving throws made to resist those effects, unless you would otherwise have advantage on those saving throws.
Trained By Many to Fight Alone
You are experienced in all manner of taking and dealing pain. Your Brothers-In-Arms have ensured that.
Also at 3rd level, after each long rest, you may choose a type of damage from acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, and thunder. While raging, you have resistance to damage of the selected type in addition to the normal damage resistances you gain during a rage. Additionally, while raging, you deal an additional 1d4 damage of the selected type, provided that there are no allies within 5 feet of you or your target when you deal damage. This additional damage is doubled on a critical hit.
Marked By the Valkyrie
You have died and live again. It is difficult to make you die again.
Starting at 6th level, you automatically regain 1 hit point and are conscious if you roll a 19 or a 20 on the die when you make a death saving throw. You also regain 1 hit point and are conscious if you roll 3 successful death saving throws without rolling three failures. Spells or effects which destroy your remains upon killing you, such as Disintegrate, do not destroy your remains, and instead render you unconscious, rolling death saving throws. You have advantage on death saving throws if you were already raging before you fell unconscious.
Additionally, once per short or long rest, when you would be killed outright, you may make a Constitution saving throw. The DC of this saving throw is equal to half the amount of hit points you had before you would have been killed outright. If you succeed on this saving throw, you are reduced to 1 hit point, instead of dying. When this happens, you may immediately enter a rage if you were not already raging. Alternatively, if you were already raging when this happens, you may begin your rage anew. It lasts for 1 minute starting from the moment you succeed the saving throw, rather than however long was left in the rage. In either case, you must have at least one of your daily rages available, and a rage is expended in the process.
If you attempt this Constitution saving throw, a spell or effect which would turn you into an undead creature after killing you, such as Finger of Death, does not turn you into an undead creature.
Endless Battler
Your eternal fighting and feasting has left you eternally hungry to fight and to feast.
Starting at 10th level, you may add 1d4 to the attack rolls of weapon attacks you make. You do not gain the benefit of this feature if you are affected by a spell or effect from another creature, such as Bless, which increases your attack rolls.
The additional damage you deal from your Trained By Many to Fight Alone feature increases to 2d4 of the type you choose after each long rest, and is still doubled on a critical hit.
Additionally, once per short or long rest, you may sacrifice your movement, action, and bonus action for one turn to consume a day's worth of food. When you do so, you regain hit points equal to your barbarian level + your Constitution modifier. You must already have an appropriate amount of food in your inventory to use this feature, and you must not be restrained or incapacitated. Using this feature does not end a rage. After you use this feature, you still have a reaction available and your following turns proceed as normal.
Disciple of the God-Chieftain
You have ascended beyond even your fellow chosen slain to become a hand of your God-Chieftain.
At 14th level, the 1d4 you add to your attack rolls with your Endless Battler feature is also added to your damage rolls, but it is not doubled on a critical hit. You still do not gain this benefit if you are affected by a spell or effect from another creature, such as Bless, which adds to your attack rolls. It is also not added to your damage rolls if an ally is within 5 feet of you or your target when you deal damage.
The additional damage you deal from your Trained By Many to Fight Alone feature increases to 3d4. It is still doubled on a critical hit.
You may use the benefit of your Marked By the Valkyrie feature to resist instant death, and you may use your Endless Battler feature to consume food and regain hit points, twice per short rest, instead of once.
Finally, you cannot be turned into an undead creature if you were already raging when you experience a spell or effect which would turn you into an undead creature, regardless of whether you use your Marked By the Valkyrie feature to resist the effect.
