College of whimsy bards are clown, acrobats, and circus folk. Using whimsical and hysterical performance to channel distracting and protective magic.

Fantastical Mishaps

Whenever you spend a bardic inspiration die, you can use your reaction to roll on the Fantastical Mishaps table. The rolled effect immediately happens. Any effect that causes a check or save uses your spell save DC as its difficulty. Any effect that forces you to cast a spell does not use a spell slot unless otherwise stated.

Effect

01–02

You lose all remaining Bardic Inspiration die. Roll on this table at the start of each of your turns for the next minute, ignoring this result on subsequent rolls.

03–04

A spectral banana peel appears on the ground in a place of your choice within 30 feet. A creature who intends to step in the space with the peel must make an investigation check to notice it. If a creature steps on it they fall prone.

05–06

A source less comical horn sounds. You cast shatter as a 3rd level centered on yourself.

07–08

You immediately cast Conjure Animals at 3rd level summoning a Giant Constrictor Snake. The snake is made of smooth, brightly colored, semi translucent material, has 1 hit point, and is hostile to everyone.

09–10

A pleasant chuckle emanates from somewhere unseen. Each creature within 60 feet of you regains 1d6+1 hit points.

11–12

Roll a d10 Your height changes by a number of inches equal to the roll. If the roll is odd, you shrink. If the roll is even, you grow.

13–14

You sneeze and a multicolored Rope of Entanglement made of handkerchiefs ejects from your nose and attempts to restrain a creature of your choice within 20 feet of you. This rope has only 5 hit points and a 15 AC.

15–16

A spectral pie generates within 5 feet of you and launches at a creature of your choice within 30 feet. Make a ranged spell attack against that creature, on a hit that creature is blinded until the end of their next turn.

17–18

You grow long, frazzled, multicolored hair that turn to smoke in 1 hour, leaving behind the hair you had before.

19–20

A magical flower sprouts from your clothes and spews slippery liquid around you. You cast grease centered on yourself.

21–22

Your pants set fire. You gain 20 feet of movement speed and you and creatures within 5 feet of you take 1d6 fire damage when you end your turn. The flames last for one minute or until you use an action to douse them.

23–24

An invisible glass box forms around you. You immediately cast sanctuary on yourself

25–26

You immediately cast mirror image on yourself, however your duplicates are out of pace and confused and reduce your movement speed by 10 feet for the duration.

27–28

You gain the ability to cast Tasha's Hideous Laughter as a bonus action for 1 minute. When a creature makes it save against spells cast this way, embarrassment deals 2d6 psychic damage to you.

29–30

Two colorful boxes appear in two places of your choice within 60 feet of you. When within 5 feet of one box you can crawl inside to magically teleport to the other box and crawl out. Only you can use the boxes in this way and they disappear after 1 minute.

31–32

Your sleeves fill with magical confetti. The next time a creature attack you within one minute they must make a Dexterity saving throw or miss the attack as the confetti erupts in front of them.

33–34

Choose a creature you have given a bardic inspiration die to that has yet to use it. That creature becomes affected by the Enlarge spell until they use the die.

35–36

Choose a creature you have given a bardic inspiration die to that has yet to use it. That creature becomes affected by the Reduce spell until they use the die.

37–38

Once within the next minute you may use your action to stare at a creature. That creature and any within 5 feet of it must make Wisdom saving throws or become frightened until your next turn.

39–40

You immediately cast rope trick.

41–42

You are polymorphed into a Flying Monkey for 1 minute

43–44

Once in the next minute you may cast silence as a 2nd level spell without expending a spell slot.

45–46

You cast levitate on yourself.

47–48

A Giant Ape controlled by the DM appears somewhere random within 30 feet of you.

49–50

Distant crickets can be heard as nothing happens.

51–52

A magical flower grows from your clothes and spouts torrential water. You immediately cast Wall of Water. The wall must start within 5 feet of you.

53–54

You are immune to being charmed or frightened for the next 24 hours.

55–56

Your hair flies from you head as a 2nd level Magic Missile targeting the four closest creatures besides yourself. Your hair regrows in 24 hours.

57–58

For the next minute, any flammable object you touch that isn’t being worn or carried by another creature bursts into flame.

59–60

You regain your lowest-level expended spell slot.

61–62

For the next minute, you cannot stop laughing hysterically. You are still able to speak and cast spells through this laughter.

63–64

The sound of flatulence emanates from you. You immediately cast Fog Cloud centered on yourself.

65–66

Choose a creature within 30 feet of you. Any ranged attacks that target that creature are magically redirected to you.

67–68

You are frightened by the nearest creature until the end of your next turn.

69–70

Each creature within 30 feet of you becomes invisible for the next minute. The invisibility ends on a creature when it attacks or casts a spell.

71–72

For the next minute you are immune to being grappled and restrained and any creature who attempts to grab you begins to pull seemingly never ending fabric from your sleeves/clothes.

73–74

You immediately do a back flip.

75–76

A seemingly mundane can is created in your hand. When the can is opened an illusory snake jumps out and the opener must make a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened. The can disappears on use or after 1d6 days.

77–78

Your arms extend to comical length. The next spell you cast has doubled range. Your arms shrink to normal after casting it.

79–80

Illusory balloons and cheerful music swirl harmlessly around you for the next 10 minutes.

81–82

You can take one additional action immediately. You cannot use this action to cast a spell.

83–84

Your face warps into a twisted visage. Every creature within 30 feet takes 1d10 psychic damage and you regain hit points equal to the damage dealt.

85–86

Your legs become springy and elongated. you cast Jump on yourself.

87–88

You gain expertise in a random skill for the next hour.

89–90

You cast Delayed Blast Fireball on yourself. The fireball appears as a shiny red nose on your face. If you allow the fireball to reach its full duration it vanishes harmlessly in a puff of smoke that spells the word "BANG"

91–92

If you die within the next minute, Your body magically disappears and is replaced by a colorful box. A creature can use its action to open the box. If they do you are restored to life with 1 hit point and crawl out of the box.

93–94

You gain the benefits of every Whimsical Facade for the next hour.

95–96

Your body turns to balloon-esque rubber. you gain a fly speed equal to your walking speed and resistance to bludgeoning damage. you gain vulnerability to slashing and piercing damage and the next time you take slashing or piercing damage, your body pops and you reappear as normal, immediately, within 10 feet

97–98

You become frightened of yourself until the end of your next turn.

99–00

You regain all expended Bardic Inspirations.

Whimsical Facade

When you choose this college at level 3 you gain proficiency in acrobatics and gain proficiency with the disguise kit.

When you take a short or long rest you may use your disguise kit to apply a face of whimsical makeup. While wearing this face you gain one of the benefits listed below

Joyous Smile

You gain a bonus to persuasion checks equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down.

Sorrowful Frown

You gain a bonus to deception checks equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down

Phantasmagorical Face

You gain 30 feet of darkvision. If you already have darkvision you may add 30 feet to it.

Bestial Guise

You gain the ability to verbally communicate with animals.

Frightening Visage

You gain a bonus to intimidation equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down

 

 

Center of Attention

At 6th level, you gain the ability to enact a whimsically distracting performance . As an action, an amount of creatures of your choice equal to your proficiency bonus must make Charisma saving throws. A creature that fails gains disadvantage on attack rolls against any creature that isn't  you. You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your bard level plus your proficiency bonus and gain advantage on dexterity saves and strength saves while you have these temporary hit points.

Any creature under the effect of Center of Attention Ceases to be if you no longer have temporary the given temporary hit points, or if you stop being on the same plane of existence,

A Perfected Face

At 14th level, Your Whimsical Facades become magically bolstered and gain new affects. Each Facade has its previously listed benefits as well as gaining the ones listed below. You also gain resistance to psychic damage.

Joyous Smile

You can cast Charm Monster as a 5th level spell once per day without expending a spell slot.

You gain resistance to Radiant Damage.

Sorrowful Frown

You can cast Negative Energy Flood once per day without expending a spell slot.

You gain resistance to necrotic damage

Phantasmagorical Face

You may cast Color Spray as a 5th level spell once per day without expending a spell slot.

You gain resistance to your choice of Lightning, Fire, or Cold damage.

Bestial Guise

You can cast Conjure Animals as a 5th level spell once per day without expending a spell slot

You gain resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage.

Frightening Visage

You can cast Phantasmal Killer as a 5th level spell once per day without expending a spell slot.

You become immune to psychic damage.
